Hello from a new member.... I have been in awe of Corregidor since my first visit in 2005, and have managed to return 2 more times. I am in search of information on the M1890M1 mortar and battery way. I have the fm and tm, but neither gives me much in the way of measurments of the mortar. I am planing on building a M1890M1 mortar and if that turns out well enough, then I plan on doing a diorama of battery way. This is a great forum! If you can steer me in the right direction of finding diagrams of the M1890 that would be awesome!! I am a retired U.S. Army Field Artillery soldier and a Pacific war student (my father served in the 1st Mar. Div durring WWII) and visiting Corregidor was a very moving trip for me. Thanks for taking the time to read this and for the website! Daniel The link to the model club I belong to.... sdmodelclub.proboards.com/index.cgi

Hi dancinsd,
Welcome to the board. I was going to point you to the fm and tms but you already have them. The tm, pages 3 to 5 have some measurements. I hope others here have the information that you are looking for.
Your plan for recreating Battery Way sounds interesting. Will it be before or after the reinforcement work was done to the original structures?
Good luck with the project.

Did you spot Dan Rowbottom's model at I think he was using a resin kit. I have also seen photos of the M1890 Mortars modeled in brass - in a museum in Honolulu. Jaw droppingly beautiful lathe work!!

It's been done already! I have not seen the model...... yet, but I will check it out! My first plans are for the mortar in 1/35 scale, if that goes well, then move it up to 1/16th scale. If it is good then try Battery Way in 1/35th scale. With what is in the TM and FM it is looking like drawing plans will be the way to go for this model. I know people who can do this and will be willing to give me help. I didn't know about this.... looks like much more research is in order. Thanks for the replies.

The Art of the Modelmaker. corregidor.org/bb/little_big_ gun_3.jpg[/img] These were sent to me some years ago by Al McGrew, a Corregidor veteran. They were originally labeled as Fort DeRussy, and somehow I got the idea they were in the U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii, Honolulu. Isn't Fort DeRussy in Washington? What's where? Has anyone got some other photos of these works of art?

Hey EXO....Fort DeRussy is located on Oahu between Diamond Head and Honolulu. My nephew toured the site about 10 years ago. It is the Army Museum, or at least it was at that time. He told me that they were in the midst of an extensive renovation so it probably is still serving the same function. Cheers.
