19 Dec. 2011, I changed the URL of the album for this Caballo Island visit to my Photobucket account because the problem with my Kodak albums -not opening- is continuing.

The Coastal Defense Study Group visits the former Manila Bay Island Forts every few years. In Feb/Mar 2006 they visited again and they let me tag along. On 3rd Mar they went to Caballo Island, the former Fort Hughes, which is now under the control of the Philippine Navy. Here is the Photobucket group URL with 9 sub albums:

This sample 1963 image came from the USN VP 40. They are flying over the island with some 'Down Under’ Visitors.

Once again, thanks Karl - there's a lot of research and preparation which has gone into your posting, and it does you credit. As well as bringing back some great memories, your series also provides a resource for those who can't make that last half-mile journey from Corregidor to Caballo.

Here's a picture which was taken by Al McGrew from a helicopter. Al is a poverty patron like all of us, and isn't into hiring choppers - but when he was featured in the National Geographic, the photographer agave him half an hour of air-time over Corregidor.
