This image was taken by Lt. Bill Bailey, the CO of "F" Co., 503d PRCT during the early days of combat on Corregidor in February 1945. It is one of a rare series of color images of Corregidor. It's not simply of a landscape - it appears to show a paratrooper at bottom left. But establishing exactly where it was taken from is proving to be difficult, so I thought I would open it up to the general board. To assist, I have added this grid pattern:

ExO,
I had a look at your photo. This should be simple but it is not. You cannot see this terrain today for all the trees so I tried using maps showing roads and contour intervals.
I have a couple ideas but not everything that can be seen fits either scenario. I will wait and see if others have suggestions.

Do you have a higher resolution? I have my suspects but like John there are some that fit and not fit the scenarios.

I give it a shot! Shot from a high level such the Mile Long Barracks over the Battery Way hill?

Sorry, no higher resolution is available to me. It's unfortunate but when it comes to personal photos, we get what we get, and are happy to get it.
The photographer is Bill Bailey, CO of "F" Co., and he was out along the Hearn/Smith area that day, judging by other images. So I wonder if we are looking at Smith or Grubbs, or both of them on the right of the ravine.
I don't think it's from Mile-Long, Karl, it seems too close to the ground, and inconsistent with the road closest to camera. What are the two landmarks then?

There seems to be a another big gun on a concrete deck on the left side of the 3rd circle.

One of my suspects that it looking towards Grubbs area because of the concrete on the 2nd circle that sticking out like a sore thumb. That looks like the BC of Grubs but we all know that it was hit by Japanese artillery fire during the 41-42 siege.
My other suspect is the road that leads to Cheney as there is a "Y" or a hairpin turn (similar to what we see on the photo) and compared to the map. However the concrete that is sticking out does not resemble the Cheney BC and I dont see any part of the battery.
Again, these are all suspect and assumptions and I can be wrong.
B-boy on the safe side....

That ventilator in the middle circle looks like the one shown in Fots' photos of Hearn. Could this be the rear of Smith or Hearn?
