Having read numerous accounts of caves in various locations on the island having been sealed shut (sometimes with men still inside) by explosives during the fighting in 1945, I am lead to wonder if any still remain. Similar to Pelelieu, there were numerous small caves on Corregidor utilized by the Japanese. I assume that most of these were discovered, cleared and remains removed. Even Malinta tunnel is supposed to have some laterals that may not have been fully opened however. Does anyone have further knowledge about this?

I would have to say there are probably many sealed caves still on Corregidor. Once and awhile one will reappear based on a hillside sliding, due to a rock fall, heavy monsoon rains, etc.
A few years ago there was a small cave that came to light in the hillside along the road to the Japanese Peace Garden and 92nd Garage Beach area, actually across from the 92nd Barracks area. It had been dug in the gray, hardened lahar type rock. Not very deep but in a position to interdict anyone coming down the road from either direction.
I have seen others but have not given their locations.
There was a group from Manila years ago, who wanted information on such hidden and lost caves. They were going to send an automatic machine, (A RATMATIC) into such caves to explore their contents, the lost gold maybe? The RATMATIC was used in Manila to explore the sewer system, thus it's name.
Not sure if it ever made the trip to Corregidor.
Probably some ordinance still inside some of these caves, and yes, some lost solders from both sides. May they rest in peace...........
