Hello everyone,
Its my first post! I am going to be in the Philippines over the day of valor weekend (April 8- 12). Balanga and Mt Samat are the high points of the trip. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome. Thanks!

Hello Geoman About the Day of Valor schedule: I never participated at the commemoration of the Day of Valor on Mt. Samat. It seems to me that it is very hard to get there on the 9th of April. The area up there is small and will be crowded, judging by news reports. My assumption is that one has to be an invited guest. I assume the affair is run by the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, which is part of the Department oif National Defense. The President has been the speaker usually so the security must be tight. Here is the URL for the PVAO, it has many telephone numbers but also it has at least one email address. server.pvao.mil.ph/Home.aspxEmail: support@pvao.mil.ph Here is a description of going to Mt. Samat from a Filipino group that went up there the hard way on a low budget: www.lakas.com.ph/2012/06/dambana-ng-kagitingan-shrine-of-valor-in-mount-samat-pilar-bataan/

Point taken, I could hang out in Balanga or try going to the nature park/zipline on line Monday the 9th, and go to the cross on Tuesday, or Wednesday.
