Boats to Corregidor ARE VERY EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! They seem NOT TO BE SUPERVISED by the authorities!!!!!!!! I witnessed in two other tourist destinations authorities are doing a GOOD JOB (SORSOGON) and or an OUTSTANDING JOB (100 ISLANDS) organizing boat traffic to tourist destinations. The Cabcaben Village Boat COOP charge 3000 or 3500 peso for a relative small boat, maybe with a capacity of about 6 foreigners. If you stay overnight on Corregidor double the amount! A personal note from Karl: In 2005 I paid 1500 peso for the Villa Carmen boat even if I stayed overnight. The price increased over the years and then a few years ago Villa Carmen said that they joined the Cabcaben boat COOP and that the price is now 3000 peso and double if I stayed overnight. Only this year they charged me 3500 just to drop me off on Corregidor because I had separate transportation to leave the island. A private enterprise which operates its boats out of the MAA piers charges now 4200 peso for a day trip and 6200 peso if one stays overnight on Corregidor. They have bigger and safer boats. Another personal note from Karl: Until last year this company operated out of Corregidor and they charged 3500 peso; CFI even wrote me a letter to that effect. But now since they moved to Bataan the prices have changed as noted in the last paragraph. Today I will present only the Sorsogon Province Subic Beach, Juac Island and Tikling Island tourist destinations because I just came from there a few days ago. I let the pictures do the talking. The distances in Sorsogon are even further and the sea conditions are the same, in my opinion. Z171. The big difference is the money! What a difference!!!!! At the 100 Islands the prices are the same-reasonable! Why is it so much higher for Corregidor? At the 100 Island and Subic Beach destination you have Government supervision!!!! The government wants to attract more visitors and cares not to leave a bad impression. Z172. The distance here is even longer than across the North Channel to Corregidor, this one way trip is 7.5 km long, longer if you want to stop at Tikling Island and or Juac Island. You can find all three locations on the internet to learn about these attractions. Z173. Step #1 is to check in here; I found the staff to be very helpful and respectful. They arrange the boat. They control the boats and tell them what the customer wants. Z174. The location of the tourist office in Matnog, Sorsogon and where the boats are. Z175. This sign is located at the tourist office, twice even and it tells me the Sorsogon Province Government cares about the tourist business. And I am sure they keep an eye on all the Municipalities that they don’t screw up things. But I am also sure they are glad to support the tourist business for the benefit of their people. Who is supervising the boat tourism to Corregidor? I don’t think anyone is! Z176. This is a close up shot of the Matnog tourism section from the previous picture. My wife is from here and we maintain a home here, so I know the area well. A presentation of the 100 Island Tourism boat operations will be next. They are even better organized. I think they offer great services!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I observe from the separate listing of costs for foreigners that the Philippines is one of the rare places in the modern world that encourages OFFICIAL discrimination and prejudice in dealing with foreign tourists. Do they give you a local price if you show them your residence card? I'd venture not.
The Department of Tourism allows discrimination, and is no friend of tourists.

Hundred Island Boat Operations. A friend and I have visited Hundred Islands this year. My German friend and I were impressed by the good organization, the reasonable prices and the attractive reception facilities. What was really outstanding that we were told in detail what the boats can do for us, where to go etc. Another great thing was that a person was assigned to make the coordination between the customer and the boat crew a very smooth one! Again I let the pictures tell the story. Z185. This is the Hundred Islands Reception Gate, notice people take pictures. Z186. This is where the Hundred Islands are. Z187. Corregidor Boats from South Bataan 2019 update Note from Karl 2023-12-18: This boat service disappeared (not available anymore) because of the virus from China (Red China).
The boats are operated by the Prime Square Enterprises. The owner is Mr. Alfredo M. Labrador. They operate out of Sitio (village) Marina Beach, Barangay Alasasin in the Municipality of Mariveles and from the MAAP piers. They have two boats and they are bigger than the Cabcaben COOP boats. We paid only 3500 peso for a boat ride to Corregidor until April 2018. After the change of Management of the Corregidor Foundation (CFI) in April 2018, the enterprise moved to the Marina Beach and the cost went up to 4200 and 6200 peso. This album also covers the situation and geography of the boat landing area, this port. This information was gathered on the 29th June 2019. This is the first segment of this presentation and I put them into these two different albums. Uploaded to this Facebook album: www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10216523942604762&type=3Uploaded to Photobucket: app.photobucket.com/u/PI-Sailor/a/853c44fb-225e-4c13-8cd8-5506e46cbfb7?field=TITLE&desc=descBut I decided to put these first eleven pictures also into this forum presentation: Z200. The telephone numbers are no longer available. Mrs. Mildred died recently in an accident. You have to call Willy, the owner; the numbers are: Smart-0998 851 9920, Globe-0996 445 5409. Z201. Prime Square Enterprises has established an office at the waiting shack at the start of the pier. But so sadly Mildred the office operator died in an accident. The boat crew handles business now. Z202. I took this picture thru the voice hole; these are the business licenses of Prime Square Enterprises. Z203. Mr. Wilfredo M. Labrador is the owner, most people call him Willy. He has this email address. labrador_wilfredo@yahoo.com .I recently learned that his 2000 Peso jeep for touring on Corregidor is not available anymore. Z204. Prime Square Enterprises has an enterprise license from the city of Pasay. But what hurts me that the boat rental price of 3500 peso under the old CFI Management is not available anymore. It is now 4200 and or 6200 peso! Z205. The boats operate out of the MAAP piers in Sitio (village) Marina Beach, part of Barangay Alasasin, Municipality of Mariveles and are secured in and load and drop off within the piers of the MAAP piers. Z206. The name of the sitio Marina Beach is indicated on the public building. In this sitio are the piers of the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP). Z207. This Google Earth image shows the geography, the location of the MAAP piers and the Sitio Marina Beach. This area is referred to as Camaya Point by some people. Z208. This was the berthing accommodation of Mildred the Prime Square Enterprises office keeper. A dump truck with failed breaks crashed into it and killed Mildred and hospitalized another person about 8 days ago. That is so sad! Z209. This is the dump truck with failed breaks that crashed into a house and killed Mildred and hospitalized another person about 8 days ago. That is so sad! Z210. This was the berthing accommodation of Mildred the Prime Square Enterprises office keeper. A dump truck with failed breaks crashed into it and killed Mildred. This is at the entrance of the MAAP pier area.

For this forum presentation I’m using only 4 images. The day was a typical SW Monsoon Day with a lot of rain. The SW ocean swell, even though this harbor is protected by a breakwater, still affected the loading of these outrigger boats because they are light and they bounced like corks. The boat crew did their best with limited resources and in a difficult situation to get the passengers on board safely and later off the boat. I would say it was almost risky and that is the reason I put this portion of the tour in this boat thread. I shows you how difficult is sometime to visit Corregidor.
Z180. One of 8 images (in the albums) of the Advocates for Heritage Preservation (AHP) people boarding the Motor Boat El Corregidor I. Swells in the port made the boarding difficult but all visitors were brave and walked or dashed on board.

Things must sure be tight in the Philippines, what with the boat cartels and the racially weighted cartel Banca pricing. Our long term members might give it a thought that we are to be the last of the folk who can study Corregidor as it was. * * * It is very difficult to ascertain what has been going on lately, under the new Corregidor governance. What can be seen, by way of us observing the outcome, is that there is no brake upon price rises, or moderation of price gouging. The price rises are significantly more than inflation, and have eliminated Corregidor as a moderate price destination. Is it the lack of competition, lack of moderation, or encouragement of higher prices by division of the spoils? I don't know.

This is the PSE boat crew they done their best to take care of the passengers and the captain did an outstanding job driving the boat across the North Channel, tacking like a sailboat and safe speed to get us across safely. Z178. Menard the Legend he is the small boat driver that provides provision and gives transportation to the Corregidor Residents. It was a surprise to see him here because he normally operates out of Cabcaben. Z179. This is the port in Marina Beach, Alasasin Village in the Mariveles Municipality; we see Corregidor in back. The ocean swells came from the SW (from the right) but swells managed to enter this basin and made boarding the boat difficult.

In 2019 posted about 40 images into this “Boats are expensive in Corregidor”, I deleted them by mistake and replaced them in Dec. 2023: corregidor.proboards.com/thread/2211/boats-corregidor-expensiveBoats to Corregidor ARE VERY EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! This presentation has been repaired and updated; about 40 accidental deleted images were replaced and links were brought back to life! Two pictures are posted again that demonstrates the main points of this presentation. The text below, I just sent out to friends to remind them and refresh their memory. Friends Boats to Corregidor ARE VERY EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! They seem NOT TO BE SUPERVISED by the authorities, in the interest of promoting tourism in the Philippines!!!!!!!! I witnessed in two other tourist destinations, authorities are doing a GOOD JOB (SORSOGON) and or an OUTSTANDING JOB (100 ISLANDS), organizing boat traffic to tourist destinations. In 2019 I posted this boat price and organization comparison: corregidor.proboards.com/thread/2211/boats-corregidor-expensive ! It compares the tourist boat operations’ at the Hundred Island Tourist Site and the Matnog Town, San Bernardino Strait Islands Tourist Spots in Sorsogon Province with the Corregidor operations. I was hoping the Authorities around Manila Bay would organize something similar, but that did not come about so far. The presentation of the above URL has about 40 pictures with descriptions. Two pictures are attached! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Karl Picture descriptions: Z171. The big difference is the money! What a difference!!!!!
