Fort Mills SOQ and HQ Area, topside, Corregidor, 2024
On the 16rth of Feb. 2024 after we executed the 79th Anniversary of raising the First Flag of Corregidor Liberation, I walked around this area of the Fort Mills Senior Officer Quarters (SOQ) and the Manila Bay Defense Command Head Quarter (HQ) and took these pictures.
-------------------
#01 image shows my starting point, in the middle of the Pacific War memorial, the entrance to the Memorial structure is behind me. Right is the Cine, dead ahead is the Philippine-American Friendship ----Memorial
--------------------------------------------------
#02 image is a section of the Fort Mills map and I indicated the track of my walk and the landmarks shown in this album.
-------------------------------------------------
#03 image shows the walkway, where I entered at left. One barely can see a trail, across this path, that goes to a battery control bunker and which is also where the so called Japanese Tunnels starts or ends.
-----------------------------------------------------
#04 to #10 images are along the path way in front of the SOQ buildings (East Section) at ones left, walking from east to west. #10 image is the last 2 Story SOQ building in this west SOQ section.
--------------------------------------------------------
#11 to #14 images show the last 2 one story SOQ buildings of the east section. Then we step onto the road to the Corregidor Lighthouse. Image #12 is a view towards the famous Corregidor Gen. MacArthur Flagpole, image #13 shows the south end of the HQ Building and #14 image is a view in the direction of the Corregidor Flagpole.
-------------------------------------------------------
#15 to #24 images are views from the Famous Corregidor Flagpole in all directions. #15 image shows the West SOQ section, notice the clean road to Battery Wheeler. #17 image is the first SOQ of the East SOQ section. #19 image shows the Parade Ground and the Mile Long Barracks, notice the clean cut grass. #22 image is a view of the Ft. Mills HQ Building.
--------------------------------------------------------
#25 to #32 images are views of, inside and from the Fort Mills HQ Building.
-------------------------------------------------------
#33 to #35 images are views of the remaining Fort Mills Bachelor Officer Quarters (BOQ).
-------------------------------------------------------
#36 to #38 images are an overview of the larger Pacific War Memorial Area on Corregidor Island.
