Can you tell me if any members of the 228th Signal Operations Company were on Corregidor prior to or during the fighting in 1941? Thank you and thanks for a great site.

Here's a quick answer - One swallow does not a summer make, but PFC. Redshaw Ward Fuller "G" Co. 31st Inf. & 228 Signal Corregidor US ARMY ended up in Fukuoka #17 Camp in Japan. (Source - www.wartimememories.co.uk/pow/fukuoka17.html )

this probably is of no help, but the family of marvin a mark, staff sgt, 228 signal corps, are the sponsors of one of the "death march" markers located near cabcaben. there is an excellent photo of this marker/plaque in the newly posted photos of death march markers on this website. this plaque clearly shows that this unit was involved in the fighting on bataan. now whether some of the members escaped to corregidor just before the surrender in april 1942 or were already posted to the "rock" prior to the capitulation we dont know with any certainty. hope this clears up some of your question.

All responses are considered helpful and are greatly appreciated. I'm chasing down leads on a distant relative who served in the 228th at the outbreak of war. While the 228th Signal Operations Company may have had representatives on Corregidor it looks more and more like he served on Bataan. Again, my thanks.
