Welcome Antonio, There is enough information now at our corregidor.org group of websites, and on this forum, as an entire library shelf of books that you can study. Many of us are a world away from Corregidor for most of the year too, so an eleven-to-one ratio is not unusual. Welcome to the study of one of the world's best preserved, underrated battlefields.

I see, or rather, I do not see any reference to it in Keith Barlow's version of " Bunker's War." The two-day period of Monday 5, and Tuesday 6 January are not present in the published manuscript. For the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th of January, Bunker starts his diary entry with comments about "no bombs." Moore's Report of the campaign at corregidor.org/chs_moorerpt/moore3.htm#Bsays as follows: 6 January saw the fifth consecutive day of severe bombing of Corregidor. From bomb fragments assembled it appeared that 1000 lb bombs were being used, making craters 40-50 feet across.
At Battery Geary (12-in Mortars) where the assigned personnel (Battery H-59th) had been constructing a bombproof shelter, thirty-four men took cover in the incompleted shelter. Unfortunately, a large bomb hit adjacent to the structure collapsing it on the occupants. Three were gotten out, injured and shocked, but the other thirty-one were lost.
President Quezon's yacht the Casiana was bombed and sunk in Corregidor Bay that day also.

Unfortunately, though I have been able to put a number of unit histories on the internet, Battery "H" of the 59th C A Corps is not one which has ever come my way. (So if you do spot such an animal, please do what you can to capture it.) All I have on the incident is the ' official' story, which is a good enough place to start, but never seems to be anywhere near the whole story. It says: Total damages for the six days' bombing were extensive. on the 2d and 3d the buildings on Topside and Middleside were hit again and two of the island's precious water tanks destroyed. On the 4th the principal target was the wharves, shops, and warehouses on Bottomside. The next day a barge was bombed and set afire. it drifted into shore and set fire to a diesel oil dump near the power plant. On the 6th there was a tragic accident when thirty-four men took cover in an incomplete bomb shelter. A large bomb fell near the structure, which collapsed and killed thirty-one of the men. By the 7th practically all unprotected surface installations had disappeared or were in ruins. Bomb craters were uniformly scattered over the island and one could hardly walk more than twenty-five yards in any direction without stumbling into one.

Armando,
Welcome. It is not always possible now to link relatives with 'troopers who may have known him, though the best way of doing this still remains for you to attend any of the reunions of the 503d.
The men of the 462nd are well represented at these reunions, as their unit did not suffer the same high casualties as some of the other Companies or Battalions.
There are numerous articles written by 462d men throughout the website, and those by Jesse B. Gande, Arlis Kline, Hoot Gibson, and Dolane Larson will help fill you in on the details of his service. The more you read by the men involved, the more you will understand what his service was like.

Thought I'd put a few items in a form that made reading a little easier. When I get enough motivation and encouragement, perhaps I can open a feature of several articles.

Okla, What you suggest won't work, I am afraid. Logic would seem to suggest it would, or should, but somehow if things were that simple, then the plague of lefties could be easily cured. "The Left", if I may be so bold as to lump the Revisionists referred to in my earlier post in with that description, do not recognize facts as you or I might. Facts are facts for you and I, but the lefties have a rhetoric which changes what those facts signify. Facts be damned, they are always right. Confront them with the inarguable truth and personal attacks start. They see all things through a lens, but they fail to recognize that the lens is not perfect and distorts the perception. That's a vast oversimplification of a complex issue, of course, so I will leave you with a link that might be of some assistance towards understanding that even ' time travelling' these clowns to Nanking, the Death March, Katyn, Lidice, etc would NOT result in them being any more wise than they aren't right now. They'd only see the facts through the lens they believe enhances clarity. Oops, the link is What Makes The Left Tick by David Solway at pajamasmedia.com/blog/what-makes-the-left-tick/?singlepage=true
