IMHO - Oh how I have waited to use those letters as in most cases I am both arrogant and right - it seems to me that any postings on this site that use sections of the map will be an incentive to members to buy the map - I really don't think any if us are going to think 'ah good free map piece no need to buy the map'. So map master I doubt you are loosing sales but rather their use on the site is actually free advertising. Why not instead post a friendly reminder of your production of the maps, approve segments (suitably acknowledged) as part of postings and remind us of how & where to buy them. Your current approach seems to me to be the marketing equivalent of cutting off your nose to spite your face, IMHO.
Others may know this, but what about copyright free JPEG PDF scanned or similar of the actual1936 maps (not the mapmaster digital copy), are they available ?

Allied Geographical Section Southwest Pacific Area WWII Terrain Studies: Monash University Library has digitized their whole collection of these studies and while it means the Philippines are not part of this digital resource it is still an incredibly useful addition as maps and all are in very high quality. arrow.monash.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Collection/monash:152600AND as Beirutvet has discovered, it now INCLUDES the Philippines

The AWM (Australian War Memorial) link makes interesting reading but when I come across a statement that (when talking about Japanese public perception of the post war stragglers ) "These negative attitudes were fostered partly by Occupation (US) propaganda on, for example, the atrocities committed by Japanese troops in the Philippines...." It devalues the whole article as I wonder about the naivety or agenda of the author. Talking about the AWM, there is a very moving display size photograph of an Australian prisoner kneeling before execution - his crime being a soldier fighting in a war.

Is it worth having a forum just dealing with equipment and techniques ? The field research we see from some of our members is often supported by equipment be it camera, GPS, Google Earth or (as with my last post) headlights as well as navigation and travel thru the hills.
At the moment I am located away from the Philippines and WW2 remains are inaccessible for me but other activities I am involved with are bringing out equipment and techniques valuable in exploring the inaccessible parts of the Manila Forts or undertaking the trecks Karl has been taking.
Just a thought

Not actually a trip report or even a planed trip but a plug for a bit of equipment I bought for myself and which I have found to be far ahead of its competitors - the Ayup Lights headlight (Australia). Not cheap but combines top quality construction with real bright lights and a long battery life AND (thinking of Fort Frank & Drum) it has two independently focusing beams so one can illuminate where you plan to go while the other illuminates those dangerous few feet where you are about to step! To those who have not been lucky enough to visit those two places both of them have quite a few vertical shafts / drops. I bought the runners kit which with spare battery & car charger which was just over A$300 including tax which seems a lot but when divided by cost of a cup of coffee / bottle of beer / the LV handbag your wife needs / the LV handbag your wife has / the LV handbags your wife already has but is waiting the right time to tell you about ..... its a positive bargain Seriously though, I have used a lot of top brand headlights and they don't even begin to compare with these. Exploring tunnels, or ending up walking as darkness falls I think this headlight will give the light you need. I have no connection or interest (apart from being a satisfied user). Their website is www.ayup-lights.com

I came across this website MAPSTOR which while I haven't ordered any maps (so buyer beware as its the internet after all) seems to be a valuable resource with 194 maps of the Philippines (US and Russian military) for $24: mapstor.com/map-sets/country-maps/philippines.htmlso if anyone has feedback ? Also, thanks Karl for all your handwork in updating and putting new information on the site. Your work both in the field and at the computer is much appreciated and as someone interested in aviation I was particularly interested in the remains of the two hangars.

Let me add a bit - not much as I'm travelling so don't have access to my photos - but Fort Wint really is a great day destination. It combines the classic fortifications of the Manila Bay Forts with graffiti from the ships visiting Subic during the Vietnam era and that odd communications building that may support the CIA usage. Oh, and it's use as an R&R island and subsequent resort. But, and I posted a picture of one of these some time previously, there are also structures on the island that do not appear on any of the maps. It is also used by illegal fishers as a hiding place. As a resort, unless it has changed radically, it is probably diplomatically described as 'not worth the money'
Let me also come clean here and admit that despite the focus of this site the only time I actually ever visited Corregidor was in the early 1980s, when I travelled over on the famed hydrofoil, so my opinion on the value of Fort Wint might be slightly biased.

Was just looking on Google Earth and noticed one of the aircraft revetment that I had visited - a really large and impressive one - has already gone under the bulldozer. History doesn't count for much in PNG now, as its money that talks. In the B4 and after pictures you can see the DC3 the pic of which I posted back in October 2013.
