The Corregidor Primary School was deliberately closed by an administrative diktat, not by a shortfall of popular support, not after a consensus of stakeholders, and not by lack of utilization of the facilities. I see no point in revisiting the reasons, other than to say what might have seemed right in the instant does not always hold water over time.
The 4th Marines sponsorship moved to a school in Mariveles, which I visited a few years back, but I don't know how the sponsorship arrangement is travelling.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS MATTER MORE THAN YOU THINKAs an Australian, I didn't grow up with legendary tales of American triumphs, tropes and tragedies, although Superman comics and Tales of the Texas Rangers on TV were pretty damn good. Serious reading was for the stories like Reach For the Sky, The Dam Busters, Escape or Die, and The Great Escape, the classic English fare. (Incidentally, all written by Paul Brickhill, an Australian.) It was a very ETO view of the world. Like they say, it's tough when you don't know what you don't know. That might explain the effect that Corregidor had on me when I first visited it in 1975. I could see remarkable wreckage all around, the debris of war and thirty years of overgrowth, and I realized that I knew next to nothing about any of it. Clearly, I would need some R & R - "Research and Return." This images in this post are hot-linked out of the CORREGIDOR HISTORIC SOCIETY (Public Group) Facebook Page. Many images of Corregidor have been kicking around since the 1910's and 1920's, and with a little help can be cleaned up and sent back into circulation. What was notable about this image is the clear trail from San Jose to the top of Malinta Hill, and the lack of the south shore road. I invite others to put their photo interpretation skills into gear to find out what else can be discovered. This is also a FB image from www.facebook.com/Corregidor.org/I do need a little assistance with FB, in that there are various classes of pages, and I intended to create a page that would allow others to put their images directly into the page. I am concerned that the type of page I have started mightn't allow that, so I need an assist from someone who can confirm that images can be posted directly to the page. The page is at www.facebook.com/Corregidor.org/

To paste an image on this forum, it needs to be hosted somewhere. There are numerous 3d party hosts out there, and one in particular that is just under our nose. Facebook (FB). To post this image, I just put it on the 503d PRCT Heritage FB Page. There is also a FB Page for the Corregidor Historic Society. You could also put it on your own FB Page as part of your own Time Line. I joined an auto forum recently and they have a system where members buy individual storage to post their own images. Their forum was proprietary, and not associated with proboards though. I've hada look to see if there are any add-ons for proboards-based forums but can't find any.

This is not my story, but it has fallen to me to chronicle the telling of it, which makes me feel like a latter day Dr. Watson. Our Sherlock Holmes is Bob Hudson.
Recently, we had a Shoutbox entry on the site from a person identifying himself as Queenie, who wrote as follows:
Queenie subsequently joined the forum, which gave us further detail.
I passed the details to Bob, inviting him to get involved. (My practice is not to disclose anyone's private email but to invite them to be in contact with our inquirer. ) Bob contacted me on 10 April.
Bob, not one to give up without a fight, combed some more records, and found the answer.

13 April - Welcome to Daryl Gordon who has joined us as flash105. He's written as follows:
As a new member, I hope to be able to explore any threads dealing with POWs at Camp O'Donnell and such. I am a Viet Nam era veteran and had an uncle who was executed by the Japanese when ten men were killed as punishment for an attempted escape.
