Hello, This is my first post glad to be here ;D I have been collecting 503d and 462nd photos and various other things over the last year. I became interrested in both groups because one day at an antique store I found a hand painted DUI on wood for the 462nd FABn and started doing research. More about that the DUI later My only real avenue for getting good photos has been ebay. For an arm and a leg, you too can buy 503d photos off of ebay. I have noticed most of the photos are from the Signal Corps....Are these photos avaiable at the national archives to make copies of? Has anyone here tried that route? Is there a way to get good copies of these photos taken by the Signal Corps? Thanks so much. Again glad to be here. Dan

Dan,
Signal Corps was the corps of the US Army which was designated as to cover the activities of all the Army's operations. Ultimately their collections ended up in the Defence Audio Visual office in the Pentagon - that was in the 1980's, and bureaucrazies (the spelling is deliberate) being what they are, I'd guess it's been through a few name changes since.
The good photos are available from Dan Hill, and there's a link on the site. He prints them off original large negatives. He's getting along in years, so hurry.
The National Archives also provides prints - often, when I have placed their photos on the site, I have provided the photo number, to assist persons such as yourself.
The website has actually been built with a minimal "paper" collection. Most of the photos you see have been provided by peope who have generously provided me with digital scans of their own prints.
