Sir, I am now a resident of Mariveles, Bataan i have an interests to know much detailed item about what happened to Corregidor during the defense and liberation and pictures of it. Sad to say but i have only gone once to the Island. My work is in the Middle East. I only have 1mo. for every year of contract. Reading more will be fine to me and experiences of the one's who fought there is a very good source of info..Thanks a lot

Welcome Antonio, There is enough information now at our corregidor.org group of websites, and on this forum, as an entire library shelf of books that you can study. Many of us are a world away from Corregidor for most of the year too, so an eleven-to-one ratio is not unusual. Welcome to the study of one of the world's best preserved, underrated battlefields.

Hey Antonio.....I second EXO's welcome. Be prepared to become a confirmed addict. I fully expect my better half to eventually file for divorce, lol. This site/forum is a treasure trove of information, with new material surfacing almost daily. Enjoy.

Thanks a lot Sir for the site that you gave, one of these day i'll start accessing it...The first time that i asked my deceased in Laws and her Aunt that a gun of Corregidor damages the glass windows of their house in Mariveles during test firing. And then they were evacuated after the surrender of the Fort in WW2 and the bodies they saw on the way out of Mariveles.A Japanese truck managed to give them a ride to San Fernando..then to Manila. Like to be a member in the forum is it ok if i just register?any particular requirements,as what i see here many are also contributor i might say that i am only an enthusiasts and would like to read the forums is it alright? There's a high school nearby in Mariveles poblacion and a library building outside was posted 4th Marines i think it was donated to the school by either a member of that group. This i have no idea. Again Thank you.

On their evacuation as the Japanese military ordered all the evacuation of civilians in Mariveles..Sorry.

The 4th Marines used to give regular support and charity support to the school on Corregidor until the school was closed by Order of the Corregidor Foundation. It was a very fine school, and some of us assisted in a small way by donations of school supplies. Batteryboy of this forum donated a computer, I recall. When the CFI decision ended in the closure of the school, the children of the employees on the island needed to attend elsewhere, and that is why the 4th Marines transferred their charitable focus away from the island.
That was several years ago. What happened off the island, we lost track. I can imagine that there wasn't as much charity available from the 4th as the years passed, as the unit's direct living connections with Corregidor became diluted.
The accommodation business which commenced shortly after the school departed, is long gone.
Learning about Corregidor is something that will take you decades. Don't be discouraged.
