Was there yesterday with EXO. Clark Cemetery has many Fil-Am War vets buried in it. Basically everyone from the old Fort Stotsenburg cemetery #1 and #2, and the pre-war Fort McKinley cemetery are interred there. Also has the "row of shame" a group of WWII GI's who were executed for capital crimes. The cemetery is in the process of trying to become a National Cemetery, meaning the VA or some other US government organization will take it over to properly take care of it. Attachments:

Another shot of the Clark Cemetery. The obelisk in the center is a Monument to the Unknown Dead, 1908, from the ..."Fort William McKinley Military Post Cemetery by the Ladies Memorial Association of Manila in remembrance of its Unknown Dead - - most likely from those that died during the Philippine-American War. The monument remained in the Fort McKinley cemetery until 1948 when it was moved to Fort Stotsenburg 50 miles to the north." www.cvcra.org/content-history/Monument.pdfAttachments:

David and Karl, Thanks for the photos. I just recently learned what a wonderful job the VFW post is doing in maintaining this cemetery. There's more information available at www.cvcra.org/John

I just learned that Congressman Frank Guinta (NH) introduced legislation in the House this past week to require ABMC to be responsible for the maintenance of the Clark Veterans Cemetery. The Bill, known as “Caring for the Fallen Act” is HR 4168.
This would be a good time to contact your local congressperson and ask them to support this bill.
The Clark Veterans Cemetery website cvcra.org has been updated and contains some interesting history.
Besides the graves moved from Ft McKinley, there were also some moved from Sangley Point to Clark. Which caused me to wonder if this might explain the absence of pre-WWII American graves on Corregidor. Surely there were pre-war American graves on Corregidor before the war.

Please see my thread "Help Restore Clark Veterans Cemetery" and the YouTube video "Two Sons, One Cause - Restore Clark Veterans Cemetery". The Bill that went to Congress got kicked into the long grass - sent to Committee. Now Senate Resolution S2320 gives us another chance to get the Cemetery properly cared for and maintained by the government. It's to be marked up at the end of this month and hopefully voted on in September. We need your help to get this through. Thanks

Hey John....Actions such as this, or maybe I should say "lack of action", always irk me no end. There is always piles of money available for the protection of the Snail Darter, Pueblo Piss Ant, etc, but something like the upkeep of military cemeteries goes lacking. Give me a break. What the Hell are our Representatives thinking???

Thinking??? Neither Obama nor Romney have responded either. And the media are as bad, just don't want to know. I personally have sent well over 100 email shots - and others many, many more.
Young Nathaniel, from the YouTube video (my previous post), was interviewed by his local press who passed the story on to the nationals and that too seems to have got nowhere.
To be fair, 16 senators have so far co-sponsored this Bill. 16? ONLY 16! We can't even be sure the Bill will make it to the vote on that number so need everyone who can to hassle their senators to end this injustice. What will it cost? Peanuts compared to other government spending!

This is the gist of my other post, after setting the background. Thought I'd add it here to save anyone searching! Nathaniel Beeler is an 11 year old boy who, among other actions, took a 1000 signature petition to Capitol Hill for delivery to Senators and Congressmen, seeking support for S2320. VFW Post 2485 and Clark Veterans Cemetery Restoration Association www.cvcra.org/index.phpdo wonderful work but just don't have the resources needed to properly care for this cemetery with its thousands of graves. Surely the government has a moral obligation to those who served and their families. It cares for and maintains military cemeteries around the world. It is to the nation's shame that Clark Veterans Cemetery must rely solely on volunteers and private donations. I have a personal interest. My new-born son Kevin died and was interred at Clark. At the time I could not bring myself to leave 3 young children, including his twin sister Kathryn, to take him home for burial. I felt at peace with this decision because I truly believed that the US Government would always care for its own - wherever in the world they may be. I was bitterly wrong. So I too crusade, on his behalf and that of all the honorable dead interred at Clark Cemetery. Please view the YouTube video, "Two Sons, One Cause - Restore Clark Veterans Cemetery" The Senate bill goes for marking up at the end of this month and, if sent to the floor, to the vote next month. Please, please contact your Senator, asking them to support the passage of S2320 as it is written, without amendment. Another few co-sponsors would almost certainly see this through and all support will help. I know this post may seem like overkill on the subject but please forgive me. I can't tell you strongly enough how much it outrages me that we have to fight for justice for these abandoned veterans and their families.
