Fots,
I have noticed that some of your posts are rendering some quirky display characters in lieu of quotation marks. We had that problem before, and it seemed to clear on up. I have corrected the recent ones that I have seen. (Dang, I should have copied them for this post!)
I now realize why they call some of these things "bugs" - they are unimportant, and they bug the hell out of me!!
Is it possible that your laptop displays them as quote marks on your screen though when they get to the normal board they just don’t display that way?
I don’t know what other people are seeing, no one has commented. I am using Chrome on a non-Apple platform.
Regards, and I am enjoying all the posts, and want to ensure they display as good as they deserve to be.
Paul

I also see those quirky characters at times and yes they are annoying. It happens only with special characters such as quotation marks and quotes etc. They look fine when I compose the text but after posting it, occasionally some characters are distorted. At first I thought it was only my posts but in the past few months I have seen it occur with other people’s posts also. I see it twice in your post here today. Note the attached screen shot. On two occasions it shows a diamond shape with a question mark in it where an apostrophe should be. No one has ever mentioned this before so I thought I would determine if it was only my laptop that displays these characters incorrectly. I found someone else’s post where I could see the quirks. Using my wife’s laptop and viewing the same post, it looked perfect (WinXP, Firefox). That told me that only my laptop was doing this but now you mention it too. I use the Firefox browser with Windows7. Just for the hell of it, I just opened Internet Explorer9. Guess what, it looks perfect too so it is not a hardware problem we have. Some weird little software bug is biting our backsides. I never see it anywhere other than corregidor.proboards.com i.e. this web site. I suspect that when you correct any querks, you are only correcting what your computer displays and not what everyone sees. Would anyone know what causes this and how to prevent it from happening in the future?
