From the December Newsletter of the 503d PRCT Association of WWII comes the following item:Attention 462nd members and families: The original devil patches are super rare! It is suggested that you either hold onto them or sell them at an auction, such as eBay. One recently sold for $1919.00! On the same day, I got the following from Bill Calhoun, the current 503d PRCT Association President: Back in early days just after the special parachute dress was subject to change para-chute officers were issued silken coveralls, tight fitting caps that bucked under the chin, a wrist watch, and an A-3 leather flight jacket. The jackets had the devil jacket pictured sewn over the left breast. I was issued that gear ands still have my jacket and patch. Even years ago, these patches were rare. I took mine off my jacket in order to keep it from being stolen. I still have jacket and patch. They were rare and valuable even then. As far as I know this was the first patch—even before Generimo.
