Hello All
As part of a history project for a modelling website I am a member of I am researching the 503rd's time in my home town of Gordonvale.
I am specifically looking for
1. A good picture of the combat uniform of a 503rd trooper circa June 1943
2. Any details relating to Pvt Wilson who died on a practise jump while based in Gordonvale
Thanks !

There are numerous images of the 503d in the archives feature, many taken in Gordonvale: corregidor.org/archive/_503_admin/aip_06.htmAll these images are now available in a published volume and as an iPad Book. corregidor.org/publications.htmPriv. Donald Wilson 25 June 1943 was believed by some to have unhooked his static line with the intention of opening his chute late, in the presence of MacArthur and Blamey. I had discussed this with Chet Nycum, who jumped that day, and who believed it was possible that Wilson palmed the hook after having it checked by the man following him in the stick ( a man was responsible for checking his brother's hook-up.) Wilson was awarded a Purple Heart (on the order of Gen. MacArthur) even though his death was not enemy inflicted. For the context see: corregidor.org/heritage_battalion/nycum/ch2.html
