Hello Seeking any info on S1C Charles r Tinker lost on hellship oct 24 1944 he was from the crew of the canopus !

Do you have his Individual Deceased Personnel File (IDPF)? They are available by submitting a FOIA request to the respective military service. Hello Scott, I saw your post on the USS Canopus casualties thread, too. Here's a link to an unofficial roster of 4/4. I don't see S1C Tinker's name on it, but the webmaster admits up front that it is incomplete. To my knowledge there is no official USMC roster of 4/4. In my opinion there is a good chance Tinker belonged to 4/4. Try contacting Everett Perry, author of "Ghosts of Canopus". He has gobs of info on 4/4 and contacts. Hello Recieved info from Everett Perry (THANKS ) Tinker was transfered to 1st Bn 4th Marines Feb 28 1942 for service on Corrigador !
