The attached photo has been to me one of the most recognizable photos of the fall of Bataan. I first saw it as a child in a book titled "Lifes Picture History of World War Two". The copy my father had was published in 1950. Just recently, a gentleman posted on the Descendants Group, Discussion board some 200 captured photos of the Japanese relating to the Philippines. Within these photos was the one I have posted here. The difference is that it had a caption which was translated from Japanese to English and I discovered that this famous or infamous photo was taken in Orion, about 5 or 6 kilometers from where I live. The Japs were facing North. To the West is Mount Samat. The area could be Orion or Pilar, the latter is Mount Samat's location.
