Ref: corregidor.proboards.com/thread/1546/mauban-defense-line-1942?page=1&scrollTo=13255“Defending Moron, two miles north of Bayandati, and the sandy stretch of beach between it and the outpost line was Company I, 1st Infantry, and Troop G, 26th Cavalry.” It is unfortunate today such veterans of Bataan and Corregidor such as former members of the 26th Cavalry Regiment are being denied full recognition as fellow members who were post WWII. Regardless of General MacArthur’s recommendations that all Army personnel who acted as infantrymen in the defense of the Philippines be awarded the Combat Infantryman badge. Documents reveal as early as 1948, civilian employees of the U.S. Army are violating the U. S. Constitution to deny such combatants what is due. Veterans and family members have formatted a letter to be submitted to Secretary of Defense Hagel to expose the unbalanced scale of recognition which occurred from 1948 to 2003.
