I thought I would start a thread where current information on the status of Corregidor today can be talked about. Is there a change coming?
Also give members the opportunity to start of "WISH LIST" of what the future of Corregidor could be, if there is a regime change in it's future.
1/ What could be changed to better promote Corregidor's place in Philippine, U.S., and world history? 2/ How can the story of Corregidor be told on it's hallowed ground-----that all can readily understand and appreciate? 3/ How can the almost hundred year old battlements be preserved for future generations to see and explore? 4/ What is the rate of natural destruction due to climate and other factors? 5/ What's right today, what's wrong?

One problem for the Philippines in general is how hard it is to get anywhere. Try to find Cabanatuan, there is not a single marker directing you to it, you have to know someone who has been there before. Manila has some great historical sites, but try to find one of them. That would be the first step for anything, including Corregidor, is making it easier to get to the place.

Very good point David, you can buy a Philippine Road Atlas with road maps of all the provinces, that also shows where all the churches are though.
Here's one, where is Pinakbanderihan? I'd been there a few times in the 70's. It's a former American built Military lookout point where both the Pacific and the South China Sea, sorry, Philippine sea, can be viewed at the same time. Concrete stairs near the top with railings, mostly gone, and a concrete platform on top? The Lamon Bay Japanese Invasion was sighted from this site in 1942.
Where was Yamasita's headquarters in Baguio, or his gold for that matter............
On Corregidor,
Where was President Quezon sworn in as president for his second term?
What various locations on Corregidor did Mac Arthur call home at different times in 1942?
Who dug all the caves in Ramsey Ravine?
Where was the temporary airstrip on Topside in 1945, used to fly out the severely wounded?
Which house on Topside was the Commanders house?
Which Topside house belonged to Col. Kirkpatrick, the Commander of Fort Drum during the 1942 conflict, and the commander of American prisoners forced to work on Corregidor 1942-43? Where did he and the other American prisoners live at this time? Why did he die on Corregidor, and what happened to his body?
