I have been through your web site and am very happy to see information on Corregidor. I have found very difficult to find anything about it. I'm writing you on behalf of my Dad who's Father was on Corregidor. He was with the 60th Coast Artillery (AA).
His name was Moore, Carrol C. "Chad". If you or anybody has any information on him I would greatly appreciate it. He ended up in Omari-Honcho. I believe it was Omari HDQS camp before the end of the war. Thank you for all your work.
P.S. He did make it home all 89 pounds of him he was 6'1" Robert Moore

On the Society's Membership CD somewhere, there's a *.pdf file of the Rosters of the 59th and 60th CA, and your Grandfather is listed in the latter. Serial Number 18001643, Moore Carol C Pvt, CACI - plus some pay codes I don't know anything about. My guess, CACI indicates Battery Indiana. There's a full article concerning Indiana at It mentions a Cpl. Moore being recommended for a Silver Star, though I cannot find a Cpl. Moore on the 60th Roster. You don't say anything about your Grandfather's rank - had he received any field promotion or bravery award?

My grandfather was a Cpl. Ralph Edward Moore, he was in the 60th AA. CAC. I am trying to find out what medals he did receive. BTW my dad was named Robert Moore but no relation to you I think.

My grandfather was liberated as a PFC but then promoted to Cpl. I have his picture. It is indeed on his uniform along with his ribbons and lapel pin. His arm patch was a circle with AA..they were not stylized just two simple letters. He has ribbons, but I don't know what they are.

Upon their repatriation, all POW's were promoted one pay grade rank as a matter of course. This purported to recognize their years of service, but was parsimonious and unfair to many.
