Although this involves Australians, I consider it has a place here to inform others what's been developing down in the Antipodes lately. Anyone who follows WWII history seriously would have heard of the Kokoda Trail. (It crosses Papua/New Guinea.) For many years, it's been popular with serious, young and robust Australian hikers who have gone there out of respect for the battles fought, lost and won there, and in remembrance of those killed. Now someone is getting very, very serious - arranging a 12 day crossing. What's different is that for this crossing, the participants are to be fitted out in WWII Australian jungle kit. It's not cheap. www.facebook.com/75kokoda/videos/1678939565732683/Check out his "packing list" For more info see 39th March to KokodaI await a group of US reenactors doing the Death March in full kit.
