Just sat through yet another TV documentary on D-Day, and it reminded me of an article I'd added to my Battle Of Manila website several years back, and which is as timely a read today as it was then. It's by John D. Lukacs, author of the book "Escape From Davao." Some might find this short article not to taste, but I don't. It says what needs to be said, which was the reason I published it in the first place. Time and again I have encountered veterans reluctant to talk or write about their time in the Pacific. It's not their fault. It has been added to our Reference Reading page.

I read it on Facebook and, while I disagreed in certain parts, I agreed with EXO that in most respects in was spot on. I thought the part especially good that mentioned that there were several "Omaha Beaches" in the Pacific, Tarawa, Iwo Jima and Peleliu, for example(s).
