I've just been advised that Photobucket has deactivated my account because they no longer support free accounts.
After years of “everything free”, the giants of the internet decided to monetize data hosting, even for “small” volumes. This has been coming a long while, and there's nothing in my Photobucket Account that I couldn't afford to lose, for I cleared out the remnants long ago. So the news of my account's closure isn't a crisis, it's just a reminder of the way things change, and rarely for the better. I've already got enough miscellaneous costs of running the website, and I've long since ceased shelling out for hosting images on the forum.
I am aware, though, that some of you still subscribe to Photobucket, and good luck with that. Thankyou for the visuals that you've been hosting, keeping us educated and entertained. Just be aware, as soon as you cease paying Photobucket, there'll be more dead images on the forum than fish in the sea.
Frankly, I'm worried about the long, slow death of our Corregidor Historic community, but I'm at a loss as to what to do about it. ProBoards is the largest host of free forums on the internet. While social media can be somewhat amorphous at times, forums provide order and a sense of home. that was then, this is now, and what is around the corner I have no idea.
I'm sorry, I just don't have the answers.

Hello EXO, I've been receiving that message from PB for a couple of months. All of my photos, as well as those of Patty's, are still visible, though with the PB watermark. My tech-savy kids have told me that there are still free hosting sites available like PB used to be. After I get caught up on several other things going on in my life I'll look into that.

I had a longstanding account with Fototime and a couple of years ago, they announced there had been a massive glitch and they were shutting down. No advanced warning, no ability to remove or save your pictures, it just happened.

What a horror story! Worse, what a betrayal! A reputable company would have its own backup, so that when their so-called data centre went up in flames, there was a fallback position. I suspect they took the "take the money and run" option.

I have so many pictures in that account, that I decided to pay. Due to my mistake, I deleted about 1000 pics which were linked to the forum and so far, I replaced only a few.
But here is another problem, they changed the way to assign URLs to the albums, so most of my album links are dead and only a few have been replaced by me using their newer method.
And here is another one, because their geeks change things so often the titles of my pictures, the older ones, have disappeared, so the pictures are not in order anymore, I always had them in an alphabetical order.
The image comments disappeared also but are now in the title line, so I can reclaim them, by copying and paste them back into the comment line, but I only done it for a few albums.
Personal note: am in Camarines Norte for 3 days, family matter.
