Hi All I have started this thread to display links to some video I took on Corregidor during January 1994. During the trip that year, I carried a heavy portable recorder and camera and recorded over 26 minutes of video. I captured on video a number of well known structures, installations and relics. At this time, the clean up/making safe/preservation work on Corregidor had only been underway a few years. What I captured is a video impression of those moments in time; fourteen years ago. This may be useful for comparative purposes as the years pass. I present here the first 1:34 minutes of video. It is of Middleside Barracks in the days before the tours stopped to overlook the barracks. Other clips will follow. Image from first video s367.photobucket.com/albums/oo117/mgk0951/Fort%20Mills%20Videos/?action=view¤t=MiddlesideBarracks_1994.flvClick this link to the Middleside Barracks 1994 video (no commentary yet. Please turn the volume down - the sound needs replacing with some appropriate music when I can work out how) Regards to all mgk1951

Your shots from 1994 show a lot of changes have occurred since then.
Who was in charge of Corregidor in 1994?
I have some shots from 1979 in the form of slides I haven't seen in 15 years. I'll have to find them and fire up the CAROUSEL slide projector......how many know what that is?
Really nice job of putting your film on the site for all to see.

Hi Phantom
I purchased a booklet in January 1994, during the video visit to Corregidor. It was titled "Corregidor", "Island of Valor, Peace and International Understanding", undated (but possibly published/printed 1991-1993) and published by Department of Tourism - Philippines.
It has a list of positions and attached duties of the Corregidor Rededication Project. This list includes Alfred Xerez-Burgos, Executive Director, CFI as one of the Co-Chairman of the project.
I guess there have been as lot of changes since then. However, Corregidor appears to be one of the few remaining generally intact battlefields in the world. Where else is it possible to walk between unfilled shell holes, climb onto bombed fortifications, wander between shattered buildings and be guided through preserved tunnels. I'm glad these simple videos are of value.
I hope you have a scanner with a back light, so we might all see some of your 1979 slides one day.
Regards
