I used the Ohio photo from Templemans book as a great reference. The following is the list of men in the photo. In Templemans book we are only given rank and last name. Since this photo was taken after the Corregidor jump, I crossed referenced the last names with the names on the Corregidor jump roster. If I had multiple last names, I used rank and also NARA to see if that name was from Ohio. So now we have a better idea of who is from Ohio. The names with an asterisk in front are 100% verified. Again, my goal is to have the whole list 100% verified by this time next year or sooner if luck should have it.
I'm stuck on a few names. As I found out, Templemans book is not 100%, but it's a great place to start. Also the Corregidor jump roster is not 100% so I have to take these names with a grain of salt. Sometimes rank is different or the name is slightly misspelled. For instance, in the Ohio photo we have Pfc. Sakal, the jump roster has no one by that name, but the jump roster has the name of Pfc. Sakai, David. Most likely this is the right man, but until I'm 100% I can't say.
So I'm asking for help. The names that have no first names are dead ends at this point. I'm hoping some of you can shed some more light on these guys who have no first names. Pvt. Qtat and Staredt have me stumped. Pvt. Turley and Bealkowski are not from Ohio....I think. Pfc. Miller....very common name. NARA has hundreds of Millers living in Ohio. The name Kasptisin does not exist in the world, but Kasprisin does. So you see my hardship.
Thank you again for any help you can provide me on these names from the Ohio Photo.
