Dear Friends of Colonel John E. Olson - We have been working with Colonel Olson for the past few weeks to pull together a short Wikipedia page that provides the basic outline of his life story, focusing on his experiences in World War II in the Philippines and as a Prisoner of War. Here is our completed page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_E._OlsonPLEASE FORWARD THIS LINK to everyone who might find it useful or interesting. Thank you, Becky Bartle Bill Gisler Randy Olson -- Chris Schaefer Public Relations Officer Philippine Scouts Heritage Society

The cross as seen in February 1988, on site at Camp O'Donnell. I've read that it originally had the additional inscription "Erected by the Japanese Imperial Army", presumably a precondition for allowing the US POWs to make and raise it. That inscription was removed after the war.

>His military awards include, among others, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Order of Merit, and the Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster.
Is there a family member that can be contacted regarding awards and decorations the Colonel earned but may not have received?
