Dear veterans and readers: As the historian for the Alamo Scouts and the author of Silent Warriors of WWII, I am working on an oral history book of the unit and am looking to interview and include accounts from anyone (soldiers, guerrillas, civilians) who had contact with Alamo Scout teams on New Guinea, Luzon and/or Leyte during WWII. Please email me at once. Thank you. Lance Zedric Zee61@aol.com

Didnt the Alamo Scouts send a team led by Bobby McGowan to reconnoiter the beaches of Corregidor before the retaking happened in 1945? McGowan's team was probing and studying beach defenses and obstacles and tried to get farther up shore to see the disposition of the Japanese but darkness and patrolling Japanese prevented them from going futher inland. Can you confirm this?

A team of Scouts was led by John McGowen attempted a landing on Corregidor on/about 26 Jan 45, but the mission was aborted when the team was detected prior to landing. Trying to determine the PT boat. Very few details since the mission was not completed. Still looking though.

Thanks. You are right, it was John McGowen, not Bobby. (my memory just failed me). Let me know if you find out anything else.
Cheers,
