Hey Fots....Methinks, I could be persuaded to serve a hitch at that duty station. Good looking vessel in this land lubbers opinion.

Marcos time but............
You notice by Fots' pictures that no scrapping is, or has gone on in this location, note the copper cables in place etc., when the rest of the island is being beat with sledge hammer and chisel to get a few steel rods out of a solid concrete wall?
Non operational location?
Off limits to ...........

Hey Phantom....It would, indeed, appear that this area is VERBOTEN. Much of the island has been ravaged by the "locusts" but this area, with a wealth of electronic cable, etc remains untouched by scrappers. This whole deal has a rather strange aura about it, methinks.

I never noticed "no scrapping" until you two guys mentioned it. The place does have a bit of an eerie feeling to it. Seems like an old sci-fi movie where the people disappeared and left everything.

Hey Guys....Maybe we need a little background music here. Perhaps the theme from the old TV series, "The Twilight Zone" would be appropriate. Corregidor has to be one, if not the, most interesting, intriguing locations on the planet with new, or not so new questions, etc rearing their respective heads almost daily. Cheers.

??Location: ? Here is a “Where is it?” question for all you Corregidor experts. Again, El Nino and the dry season are helping me to find things I have never seen before. If anyone ever told me about this place then I must have been sleeping at the time. I have this habit, whether it is good or not, of expending energy checking out remote chunks of concrete etc. Sometimes I even annoy myself but occasionally it is worth the bother. The structure in question is not on any map. It is not unknown though as it does contain graffiti. I noticed dates from 1958 up to 2000. It surely does not get visitors very often though. I won’t add much descriptive info to these photos as it will be clues for everyone. If you know where this bunker/casemate is just reply “yes” and send me a personal message with the location. Don’t say on the forum where it is. If you don’t know then reply with a “no” so that I know you read the post. The winner(s) gets a cold San Miguel or two at MacArthur’s. I’ll let everyone know the results. Here is the first view I saw of this underground structure. Looking back up the steps to the surface. Is this the end of it? Nope. Another staircase going down. Looking down the second staircase. Looking back up the second staircase. Lets have a look around. The base for a heavy machine gun tripod? The left side is mostly destroyed. Front outside view. Even in the dry season this place is difficult to see unless you are almost on top of it. With rainy season vegetation this structure would be invisible. Metal rails above and below the machine gun ports give me the impression that there were sliding steel shutters over the ports. This view reminds me of photos of Hitler’s Atlantic Wall. Damaged machine gun ports. P.S. After all my visits to Corregidor (21 to date), this island still amazes me.

Hey Fots....Having never been to the "rock", I certainly have no clue as to the location of this bunker, although it would appear to be facing due west or west-southwest since there are no headlands, etc visible thru the gun ports. I did notice that much of the tunnel concrete/cement has that "finished" look that you and I have discussed previously. This would indicate, to me, that this fortification ain't some stop gap layout. As you said, it has an Atlantic Wall appearance about it. I am sure Erwin Rommel would happily incorporate this structure nto his channel fortifications. Strange that it isn't shown on some of Mapmaster's excellent charts/maps. No San Miguels for me, even if I would suddenly appear at MacArthur's. I am, of course, curious as to the actual location of this structure. Interesting stuff, as usual.
