Is anyone working on a unit history of this AA battery? I notice that it is missing from the TOE on the main Corregidor page.

Hi John,
I was not aware of this AA battery. Was it “mobile” and had no footprint on Corregidor?
If it had a known location please let me know. I will go check it out and report back to you.

According to the Corregidor website, there were four 50 caliber machinegun batteries on the island. Battery's Mobile, Lansing, Indiana and Kingston. Battery Kingston is the only AA Battery whose unit history is still under construction on the site and I have no idea where it was located. The TOE says they rated about 12, watercooled 50 caliber machineguns, mounted both in towers and on the ground on anti aircraft tripod mounts. Battery Mobile also had the welcome addition of being issued a US Navy 1.1" quad anti-aircraft gun mount that had been earmarked for instalation aboard the USS Houston, but never mounted on her because of the onset of war. Even the Belote Brothers Book "Corregidor Saga of a Fortress" is vague as to Battery Kingston's location.

Also, the Wainright Papers state that after Washington DC's November 27's war warning.: "Nine new antiaircraft machine gun towers were constructed and five existing towers were strengthened."

Thanks for the information. There are the remains of some tower pole base rings still existing on the island but I am not aware of anything else.
I have no idea what machine gun battery was where. Perhaps we will get more detail someday.
