I clicked on your recent posting EXO about the birdwatching potential on Corregidor.
While there in January I saw a Japanese photographer all over the island taking pictures of the very birds you show in your post. He found many on Topside in the early morning before all the tourists arrived. I walked up to him one time to talk to him, and he raised his arm for me to stop and then to proceed slowly. He, on that occasion, and many other occasions showed me some beautiful birds in his viewfinder. His camera was huge, he had it on a tripod. The lens was maybe a foot long. Those birds have always been there but I never really noticed them. He showed me a small bird of prey sitting on the top of the old cine on Topside. It was amazing to see.
I would tell him when I saw something interesting if he was nearby. He said Corregidor is the only place he sees several of the species anymore.
Also when I opened up your embedded site in the birdwatching post, I looked under the "more recent featured articles" and clicked on the film clips section.
I enjoyed both, "Cleanup On Corregidor" (the narrative which seems outdated and inaccurate but maybe due to the times it was put together, or lack of information provide to accompany the film shot), and the talk by the 503rd veteran, Clevenger.
Listening to him recount the explosion of the Navy Intercept Tunnel from his perspective having been near Monkey Point when it blew, is informative and ties more of Monkey Point into the war in 1945.
Monkey Point was another spot we visited this year looking for some conclusive evidence of places and events described in books recently discovered.
A large fox hole lined with rocks was found where it was mentioned in the book, used as a 50 caliber machine gun pit, which fired on the Japanese who were then on Denver Hill in 1942.
A long trench that runs from Battery Keyes to the cliff was also where it was described in the book by one who had used it and the 50 caliber machine gun pit.
Nice new posts there.

Fots2's article about the descent into Navy Radio Intercept Tunnel was so impressive, I have given it permanent status as a FIELD NOTE. If you don't know about the FIELD NOTE series, you are in for a surprise.

EXO, I did not know about the FIELD NOTES series, and was I most pleasantly surprised. All these great articles are now so conveniently located together. What a great browsing session it makes, especially for newcomers exploring the site. Kudos!
