Hey Ironman....Many thanks for the b-day greetings. The info must be in my profile, etc, but your acknowledging my number 78 is certainly appreciated. I just wish I was knocking out a few cold ones in celebration at MacArthur's (isn't that the cantina on "the Rock" where our onsite buddies quench their thirst after beating thru the bushes on Corregidor) Thanks again for remembering this landlocked Corregidor/Bataan"geek". Cheers from a 108 degree heat index Tulsa.

I wish I was knocking back a few cold ones in celebration at MacArthurs with you. Or anywhere on the Rock seeing firsthand the things we can only see in pictures. Hope you had a good birthday!

Belated Happy Birthday okla. Sorry for the late message but I just returned home this evening after spending the past five days on Corregidor. Yes we did end our hiking/exploring days at MacArthur’s Café. We found the temporary 1945 flagpole mentioned in recent threads, a few other things and generally had a great time as usual. I even got to spend another three hours in my favorite tunnel (Malinta). Another thing that has slowed down my photo posting is the death of my primary laptop. All original photos were backed up but I lost a couple months of editing work. Making frequent back-ups seems like a great idea now. I’ll get some photos online as time permits. Again, Happy Birthday.

Hey Fots...Thanks for the b-day wishes. Being an old retired computer operator, I found out eons ago that "back ups" can save your bacon in many hectic circumstances, i.e, blown payroll data, etc. I can see where you might consider Malinta as your favorite tunnel. It is obviously more "civilized" than those you have been slinking, crawling, and groping thru here of late. Looking forward to any photos you deem worthy for posting. Always enjoy whatever you throw up on the screen for us "land locked" unfortunates.

Hey Vic...I appreciate the b-day wishes. Means a lot to old geezers such as myself. Yes, I found out that the temp can get a bit brutal in your area. I tramped around Gettysburg during August 1970 and got a taste of what the Civil War folks suffered those July days way back in 1863. My 4/greats grandpappy got a taste of the frigid winters "enjoyed" by Pennsylvanians when wintering at Valley Forge. He was a Sergeant with the 12th Virginia Regiment in Washington's early Continental Army.
