Camp O'Donnell grounds, as the rice paddies looked in 1988... Only a few concrete slabs remained in the place of buildings. (added enlarged photo)

Cross made and erected by US POWs at the cemetery site in 1942 at O'Donnell. I think it was relocated to the Punch Bowl in the 90s(?) (added enlarged photo. The original cross is now at the National POW Museum in Andersonville)

The Camp O'Donnell cross, as it looked in February 1988. I have read it originally carried the additional inscription "Erected by the Japanese Imperial Army", which I presume was included in order for the US POWs to be given permission to make and raise the cross. That inscription was removed after the war. (added enlarged photo)

Great pictures, Chad, thanks; how did you get them or how did you get there to take these images?

[/img] When I retraced the Death March Route I only found 3 of the old type DMMs left. Here is old type DMM #16 on the Bagac to Pilar route and there is also new concrete #16 near by. The other two that still exist are #15 on the Mariveles Route and of course #112 and these two old type ones have not been replaced by the new concrete ones.

Hello Karl, what remarkable photos you have taken. I thoroughly enjoyed viewing them on your links. Looks like some things have changed a bit since I was based at Cubi Point/Subic Bay from 1985-88, when I took my photos. I see that Edna Binkowski nicely restored the Tuol Pocket marker, which had deteriorated over the years and was in terrible shape. Several years ago she asked me for a close up of the wording on the marker, after seeing this picture I had taken of it in 1986. (added enlarged photo)

And fortunately I had taken this close up shot, too. (added enlarged photo)
