I have long thought that the service performed by the US Coast Guard during WW 2 has been somewhat overlooked by the general public. Those guys stuck their necks out just as far as their Navy brethren doing convoy duty and in amphibious operations. A far cry from the days of attempting to curtail "rum running" in the 1920s.

Crotty died 7/19/42 and was buried along with the other 42 men who died that day in Cabanatuan Cemetery grave 312. 29 of these men, including Crotty, are still unidentified and are buried as unknowns in the Manila American Cemetery.
Here's his hospital record.

Crotty's file contains some pre-death dental information so there's a chance his remains may still be identified and his grave marked.
Here's his death certificate.

Hi John What type of files are those, I don't seem to be able to open them.

They're .pdf files and I don't know why the file extension was corrupted, but I should have checked them. I was trying to insert the images inline, can anyone tell me what I did wrong?
BTW, I picked up several thousand IDPFs and all WWII X-files the other day. It is going to take a few weeks to get them organized, but if anyone needs any specific files PM me your list.

Hello John, would it be ok if I post those at the US Coast Guard forum?

Sure, please do. You might mention that there is a reasonable chance that his remains can be identified (as well as most of those from Cabanatuan) if a family reference sample (DNA) is available. I have the files necessary if someone wants to take on the project.
I'm still trying to figure out why those file attachments didn't work properly.
