I have been a member here for sometime , just never got around to introducing my self. I am a avid WW2 history buff. My father served in the Navy during WW2 in the Pacific , he had 2 brothers that were in the Air Corps stationed also in the Pacific. There were 2 men form my home town that spent the war as POW's, one was captured on Wake Island the other was captured on Corregidor . One of the first books I ever read was about the Bataan Death March, it moved me knowing that these soldiers went through. I hope to learn more about this part of WW2 that I know very little. So look forward to reading and learning

Welcome to the board. There is certainly enough information in Corregidor.org and the other sites to keep you reading for months. Good luck.
Did your father tell any stories about his experiences on Corregidor?

My father was not there. But I did get the Honor of attending a conference one time many yrs ago and hearing Mr Burt Bank and Mr Browning speak. Mr Bank was on the Death March and Mr Browning was at Corregidor serving with the Marine Reg there. Both told of things that no one should ever see. Men killed over a drink of water, having Japanese money on them. Mr Browning told of a man killed just because he was limping on a bad leg, men pushed in front of military trucks just to see them ran over. Neither spoke kindly of the Japanese , that's for sure.
My fathers ship did a port of call there in 1945 after the war. He said the landscape was lovely. He never returned but he said of all the places he went , that was the best.

Good day to all. Thanks very much indeed the forum is very very rich in informations as to what happened here in WW2 and the surrounding areas of Bataan.Since I have transferred my residence in Mariveles the moment i woke i can always take a look at the Corregidor Island but due the passage of time my view now is blocked by the risen houses at our backyard neighbors that was able to built storied houses..but i'm trying to get back the view as i'm building a three story house, too!
