Hi, My name is Armando Quinones. My father was Joseph M Quinones. He was in the 462d parachute field artillery. He was at New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon. He was wounded in action on Corregidor Pi 20 Feb '44. He never would talk about his service and passed away in '82. If anyone has any knowledge about him and his time in service I would greatly appreciate any information. I had hoped to enter the military but he made me promise not to because he went on the the National Guard and served in Korea. He finally retired from the Guard in 1980 and didn't want my mom to go through any more anxiety if I had entered. Mom passed away two years ago and there is a hole that I would like to try and fill with information on dad. Sincerely A. Quinones

Armando,
Welcome. It is not always possible now to link relatives with 'troopers who may have known him, though the best way of doing this still remains for you to attend any of the reunions of the 503d.
The men of the 462nd are well represented at these reunions, as their unit did not suffer the same high casualties as some of the other Companies or Battalions.
There are numerous articles written by 462d men throughout the website, and those by Jesse B. Gande, Arlis Kline, Hoot Gibson, and Dolane Larson will help fill you in on the details of his service. The more you read by the men involved, the more you will understand what his service was like.

I notice in the Templeman book his name is misspelled. Also in the state photo name document, it is mispelled yet another way. Armando, is this a picture of your father? And is this your fathers army serial number...39019461? I want to make sure I have the correct person for any help I may be in research. Thank you Dan Attachments:
