The explosion that destroyed Battery Geary destroyed all the mortars and threw many long distances. My guide, Brian, showed me one of the rarely seen mortars that were blown out of the battery site. As we entered Battery Crockett, about 250 yds or so down the road from Geary, Brian led me to a depression in the floor of the surrounding jungle. In the depression was one of Geary's mortars upside down that had been blasted there. The explosion of Geary's magazine must have been massive to have thrown this big mortar this far. It was really cool seeing it. Attachments:

It is nice to see someone else get away from the day tour. I get the impression that you had a good trip.
