Wow, EXO! Another chart drawn on the back of a Cabanatuan POW's ID "card". It looks like it could be the same draftsman who did the minefield chart on the SS Corregidor thread, very high quality. Can we make out a name in the reverse print bleed-thru from the backside?

The credit for the post goes to Dave Metherell who obtained the document; and to Fots, because he raised with me the identity of the author of the minefield map. I passed the query along to Dave, who was also the source of the minefield map, and the Caballo/Carabao map was Dave's reply.
I will allow Fots to opine as to his own findings as to the authorship.
Such is the way things develop when we have an open exchange of documents, it really does benefit us.
I'm no trekkie, but the while thing sounds a little Borg-ish.

While trawling the Net I came across the USS Cleveland CL-55 Reunion Association website. There are interesting photos of Caballo taken by the cruiser's scouting aircraft during and just after the bombardment of the Island. One of the photos clearly shows a shattered Battery Fuger, Battery Woodruff and a tunnel entrance, presumably to Craighill. There are also photos of the bombardment of Corregidor, but nothing unusual here.

Anyone notice that the armament is wrong? Odd for such a well done map...

Yes, the armaments are wrong and and except for the 12-inch mortar the major caliber seacoast guns are in the wrong caliber as well. Another observation on Caballo is that Battery Williams should be more to the right most portion. The two guns were split to be two separate tactical batteries.

Hey Guys...Even tho much of the armaments info is in error, the quality of the work is impressive to me. I doubt that this man had the proper drafting materials to turn out such quality work, i.e. drafting table, drawing instruments, desk illumination lamp, and obviously there was no drafting paper. Very intriguing, to say the least. Cheers.

The 38th Div. takes Caballo Island, ex Fort Hughes in WWII, 1945.
A very good friend of mine, we met on Corregidor several times sent several 1945 pictures and he said this: “Hi Karl, I found this 38th Division (Indiana National Guard) Yearbook at the local Library. I copied about 40 pictures, go ahead, and post them as you wish”.
My friend Roger Davis is a very active member of the Coastal Defense Study Group (cdsg.org) and has contributed much in keeping alive the history of the US Army Coastal Defense.
All of the pictures were uploaded into this album in high resolution, be our guest if you are interested: www.flickr.com/photos/44567569@N00/albums/72157709117454053
These thirteen pictures are about the 38th Inf. Div. action of landing on Caballo Island and liberating the ex Fort Hughes. They are posted here now, and most have descriptions. Some don’t have descriptions but they were copied and sent in sequence and we can assume they are from the Liberating the ex Ft. Hughes Battle. In this forum page there may be the same picture already or a similar one. But I decided to post them all here again because they came directly from the 38th Inf. Div.
