Nov. 2023 Corregidor Visit w. Kevin H., Day 1
First Segment!
Teamed up with Kevin Hamdorf to visit Corregidor, 2 days, 2 nights. We live in the Subic Bay area and choose to go by boat from Bataan. Corregidor Foundation Inc. (CFI) does not have any scheduled transportation at this time. We used the Villa Carmen boat service, out of customer loyalty, there are other boat sources. The purpose was to get an update about Corregidor and to show my friend some sites he had not seen yet.
-#00 to #09 images are about the Villa Carmen Beach area where we got on the boat. The price of the boats went up from 6,000 to 7,000 pesos for the two boat rides, for the boat, the cost divided by the number of passengers. Two boat rides are needed since we are staying overnight on the island. Villa Carmen established a new gate to their property and we could park our car safely for the two days.
#00 image is a view of Corregidor from the Villa Carmen property.

#08 image shows us underway to Corregidor and we are passing the LPG Pier on our starboard side.
#09 image shows that we are deep into the North Channel between Corregidor and Bataan, we see the south Bataan Coast.
#10 to #16 images are our approach the North Shore of Corregidor, into, inside the North Mine Dock of the former Fort Mills and still today the boat landing area.
#10 image shows our approach to the North Shore of Corregidor, we see the former Ft. Mills Officer Beach, just right of the middle with new brand new concrete road entering it.
#11 image shows our approach to the North Shore of Corregidor, we see the former Ft. Mills Enlisted Men Beach, just right of the middle and under the Malinta Hill.
#12 image shows our approach to the North Shore of Corregidor, we see the Lorcha Dock and the North Mine Dock area of the former Ft. Mills.
#13 image shows our approach to the North Shore of Corregidor, we are entering the boat landing area between the Engineering Dock at right and the North Mine Dock at left. Sorry the image is blurred.
#14 image shows our approach to the North Shore of Corregidor, we see the seawall. Before the power of Diesel the coal to fire the power plant in the former Ft. Mills was stored there behind that wall.
#15 image shows our approach to the North Shore of Corregidor, we see the seawall. Before the power of Diesel the coal to fire the power plant in the former Ft. Mills was stored there behind that wall.
#16 image shows our approach to the North Shore of Corregidor, we are about to land. Left we see the CFI Admin Building where we check in and Malinta Hill is behind it.
#17 to #19 Images are about the MacArthur Café, they show the newly completed dining and assembly structure in front of the main MacArthur Café and the #19 picture shows the renovated toilette building, commonly called the Comfort Room, around these waters.
IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!::::: We wanted to bring a 3rd person but CFI insisted that they only had two rooms available. It seems that the structure between the CFI Hostel and the CFI MacArthur Main Building, which had 6 rooms available, but the roof is so rusted and rotted now that a guest would get wet if it rains.
#17 image shows the newly completed dining and assembly structure in front of the main MacArthur Café, we ate our meals at that table.
#18 image shows the newly completed dining and assembly structure in front of the main MacArthur Café, we ate our meals at that table, at left behind that piling.
#19 picture shows the renovated toilette building, commonly called the Comfort Room, around these waters.
#20 image shows the former Coast Guard building. As you can see they had to move and they moved to the structure that used to be a Sari Sari Store at the boat landing area.
That special gun barrel that was found by fishermen, and taken by the Coast Guard and put in place in front of the Coast Guard Station on Corregidor has been moved the Corregidor Pacific War Memorial Museum at Topside on Corregidor, the CFI Staff and Coast Guard personnel reported that to us.
