In '87 the Foundation had a dozer go through that area and opened up a tunnel entrance that, I believe, was south of the two that are now open. The Foundation had an armed guard keeping anyone from going in, so I was only able to take a picture reaching my arms in. Again, my memory may be fading, but it appeared different from the two that are now open. Maybe a subsequent slide covered it up. I don't know.
I wasn't able to locate it in '06, but back in the '89 I found another small tunnel entrance further north along the west side of the hill, just about where the hill turns west. I had to get on my belly to get in, but then was able to stand. It went in aways and then there was a large rock fall, 15-20' high. At the time I thought that it probably connected up to the QM complex. Has anyone ever been in this one?

I didn't see them in '87, but I saw one of them in 2001, when CFI again tried to get a dozer inside. There was a lot of slippage from above, and it was getting physically dangerous for the dozer, so the attempt was cancelled. The hillside kept on slipping and ultimately the whole thing got overgrown.
It would need a backhoe which has some reach to open these tunnels.
Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of the opening. My recollection of the position is that the tunnel was opposite the road alignment up the hill.
The area is completely overgrown now.

Video of Tunnel Queen
Here is a video that some people might like to see. I have posted photos from this tunnel before but sometimes video shows a more complete story. The video which was recorded with my little pocket camera is poor quality but is fine to show you what it looks like in there today. The original video size is 640 x 480 pixels.
Recently I read that YouTube reduces an uploaded video’s quality. I have no idea why but this appears to be true. The video I uploaded was 87MB. When the quality seemed to be even poorer than the original, I decided to download it and compare the before and after sizes. The same video downloaded from YouTube is now only 18mb.
I have labeled this video as Tunnel Queen. Can I say with 100% certainty that this is the US Navy’s Tunnel Queen? Unfortunately not but I think that just about everyone would say that it most likely is. Detailed and accurate information about the Malinta Navy tunnels is difficult to come by.
Soon I will post a similar labeled video for the second Navy tunnel which also still exists.

Hey Fots...I am sure that this latest endeavor is excellent stuff, as per usual. But, I must confess that I am still using my antiquated computer set up that probably came into Oklahoma during the 1889 "Land Run" and, thus, cannot handle Video. I should leave the "dark ages", computer wise, and, as Winston Churchill onces said, "advance into the Sunlit Uplands" or some similar quotation of which he was so adept. Cheers. Postscript....I just received in the mail, this morning, a photo of you and Terry Ogilvie-O'Neil, taken on the Ferry going to Corregidor. What a fine looking pair you two are, representing the Commonwealth in excellent fashion. West Aussie and Fots now have faces to go with their names.

Hi okla, Computers can be finicky things even when they are new. I can’t promise success but how about giving this link a click and see if that works for you. It is a direct link to YouTube. Good luck. Tunnel Queen VideoWest Aussie and I had a good chat on the way to Corregidor that day. Thanks for the heads-up or we never would have met. Your name came up (favorably) a few times.

Hey Fots...Of course, wouldn't you know that I still will not be visiting the Navy Tunnels. Seriously, this antiquated layout of mine is for the birds. I feel like one of "the anointed" when I am even able to log on. Anyhow, thanks for your effort to bring me into the 21't Century.

Video of Tunnel Roger
Here is another pocket camera video for everyone. This time we will see the second and last remaining US Navy tunnel in Malinta Hill. Again, exact tunnel names are a bit fuzzy however it is generally believed to be Roger.

Many thanks for the fascinating video; almost like being there. Your exertions are, as usual, much appreciated.

Thanks for the comments fortman.
I probably should say that Tunnel Roger also connects to the rear of Tunnel Queen and to the tunnel going towards the Malinta Tunnel South System.

Fantastic work again from fots2. If only I were there ... That projectile sticking into the side of Malinta Hill is of course extremely interesting to me, but now too difficult to determine precisely what it is from. My guess is a 105 mm artillery projectile, possibly Japanese, judging from the flat base and the approximately 4 inch diameter which has been reduced somewhat. The green part around it is the remains of the rotating band which was made of bronze. I am always amazed at how rapidly everything rusts and corrodes on Corregidor. I have picked up remains from shells and bombs only to have them crumble in my hands. CB
