I had a chance to visit Lae in 2004, here is a picture of the airfield used by the Japanese during the war. It was also the airfield Amelia Earhart took off from before she disappeared. Attachments:

If anyone gets down to Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, there is a small family run WWII museum on the outskirts of the city. You'll need to take a trike to get to it as it's a little far to walk. It contains a lot of articacts picked up over the years from battlefields around the local area and up in the mountains. If you ask, they'll usually let you handle the weapons, although I wouldn't touch the grenades as I think they are still live. Attachments:

If anyone is near Angeles City, Philippines, there is a small WWII museum at Bamban. It is owned by a local Filipino who is interested in the war around that area. The museum contains some US and Japanese weapons, helmets, a Samurai sword, a battle flag taken off a dead Japanese soldier, and many pictures. Attachments:

Sounds like fun. I've read some of their reports. There is a small group of us here (Angeles City) both American and Filipino who are interested in WWII, we go around to the different battlefields and museums.

I've never visited Corregidor although I've lived in the Philippines since 2006. Was on Bataan yesterday going over some of the WWII trails though.
