Chad, no apology needed. Unless your hand can reach out through my display screen and slap me, I won't take it personally.
Patty, I have a photo of Mac holding sunglasses in his right hand after landing on Leyte, so I don't know if that object in his pocket is for holding sunglasses. I'll post that photo but it has been published, not one of the unpublished ones. As far as the collar goes. Generals had the privilege of having their own custom tailored to their own specifications. Those with the biggest egos took advantage of it. George Patton was one. Macs collar is different as well as his shirt pocket flaps. It would take some investigation to ID his staff but could be done without too much effort. I am a fan of MacArthur from the standpoint of a general on the offensive with superior forces attacking the Japanese but an not of fan of the defensive MacArthur especially since he wanted his entire Army to fight to the last man. To order your Army to fight to the death from the comfort of safety is cowardly. Would he have given that order if still on Corregidor? After the War, I have little use for him as well. His treatment of Generals Wainwright and King are despicable. I'll post a photo of MacArthur with British General Percival and General Wainwright. Tell me if they are happy to see him. I went a bit off track here. My apologies. I know there a re many who think MacArthur a great general which he was in some respect but his ego needed stroking at any expense as did Pattons.

Well, that thing in his pocket looks like a checkbook to me but I'll be damned if I know where he could get one cashed on Corregidor. The helmet laying on the ground gives you an idea of why much of that Japs face is missing.
Chad, you really can't see if someone is logged in unless you're on the home page. If you're here reading and posting, you have no idea who is on the board.

Did you notice that in the photo of the dead Japs at his feet, one Japanese is missing his face? Sunglasses became popular after the war with all the returning pilots having them. I have no idea when Mac started wearing them. A good research project for someone however.

Unpublished photo of MacArthur with his staff on Corregidor 1945. It's too long a long story to tell how I come to have a number of unpublished photos of MacArthur. Attachments:

Rather than going through that entire site, I'm going to assume that HE munitions blow the crap out of things and shrapnel rounds just kill.

This is where I feel like I have a room temperature IQ in munitions. HE rounds do not spread out shrapnel like a shrapnel round?

It is my understanding that battalions are made up of four companies. 1st Battalion would be Companies-A,B,C,D - 2nd Battalion E,F,G,H and so forth. Either I or K Company would be in the 3rd Battalion. My uneducated guess would be 1st Platoon, K Company.

Cleaned up the photo a bit and it does look like an I. Would I stand for Infantry? K Company would put them in the third Battalion but I can't remember if the third battalion is a rifle & infantry company. Attachments:

I blew the photo up to 200% and did a high pass sharpen with photo editing software which didn't help much but it almost looks like a sword.
