EXCELLENT idea on creating an app for each position, filled with detail...I can see it on my iPad now, a brilliant idea!

WOW I am stunned but shouldn’t be they did it to me once too often. Manuel Quezon would be appalled at the way this has gone. We all know his final days and hours were on Corregidor before he boarded the submarine never to see Corregidor or Country ever again February 20, 1942, I believe. This whole thing needs to be put right for President Quezon and everyone else connected. In my opinion the whole experience got too complicated with high end accommodations and a few other incorrect so called improvements. KISS was The moto in WW11 and it worked for that very reason... Simplicity! I said in the past the old Corregidor Inn had a lot of old charm, she was well suited for her environment and she was a little cranky which I absolutely loved. The Corregidor Inn just needed a few cans of paint and a brand new fuel-efficient generator. Let the island shine for what it really is, an historic battlefield. Make your improvements in specific areas which pinpoint historical events, highlight them, all of them. As a history buff, I want to stand in the very location and read all about what just happened there, I do not want to just look at a broken down building and try and figure out what it was and what its purpose was. A great example would be a small write up and picture at the location of the building where Al and Spencer were when they went in a building to get a photograph taken and how they sent that to his mother in the USA. By doing this you have just brought to Life a real time incident in front of your very eyes And the magic of what that is, there is only trees in front of you, the building is gone but you now have a real life story in your mind. This particular event also acknowledges the innocents prior to the start of World War II.The entire island is one big historical event actually so therefore each and every area should be sign posted with a small write up of what happened in that exact location. Somehow the guided tours need to be altered, I do not know how, but I do know that I would like to spend more than 90 seconds in one area before being whisked back on the trolley to the next location. Make the departure from Corregidor much later than it is or add a short visit for an appetizer and a long visit for the enthusiasts. The appetizer will become The main course if done correctly and many people would opt for the longer journey. I also know that there needs to be a back up transportation plan from Manila so that the vessel makes the journey no matter what. My heart is sending me signals to visit again, I hope it is sorted very soon. Willy in Bermuda 🇧🇲

I think I am correct in stating the flights for the February 16th drop originated on the island of Mindoro just south on Manila, a very short flight and also the smallest drop zone in WW11 history. I think the C47's were ordered to a lower altitude, 500' to get a more precise jump zone as the winds were blowing the men off the target landing.

I too will be there but on the other side of the world, two days of travel away, so in mind and spirit February 16th. It is this date for which these brave men put their lives on the line. February 16th belongs to those men, it is this date, for them, not to be changed or disrespected in any way by any individual or committee! Thank you Richard Adams I will honor you and I will honor your fallen comrades on February 16th. THE DAY. Willy in Bermuda

Well they certainly succeeded in ruining another trip to Corregidor for me! It takes me 2 days just to get on this side of the planet. When I vacation I always plan a few things to do, one of which is Hong Kong hiking, all of which is planned and controlled by me...surprise surprise it went perfectly well !!! I will check some alternatives on your suggestion EXO. I know Bataan was one method but that adds a fair amount of hours to get there and then scoot across the North channel in a banka. Once I have planned the MOA to Corregidor run, that’s set for the day, I have one or two days to do this as planned. By the time the second day was available I was so f%$^&*# pissed off, I said to hell with it and took my Hong Kong honey shopping. Phoebe had zero knowledge of this island and even read about Corregidor to gain some knowledge and insight of what I would be talking about when I showed her historical points of interest...that’s a great gal right there! We went to the Philippines specifically for Corregidor.
(Reply by EXO: I know what a great deal Corregidor is to you, T-2. I suggest you write a formal (ie on paper, not e-mail) letter to each of Sun Cruises, Corregidor Foundation Inc, and the Department of Tourism, scan them, and I will post/host them for you. You should challenge them to disclose how many trips were cancelled during the last twelve months, and ask them how many trips they have made during the last year. If they cannot tell you, you can consider yourself at liberty to conclude that they just don't care how poor the reliability of their services have become. That certainly is no way to run a tourist facility, flagrantly ignoring the vital interests of the tourists. Please also put your comments on the tourist websites, all the Corregidor blogs, and don't hold back. They have treated you worse than shoddily. If you do a "NO TRIP REPORT", I can put it on the Facebook. Maybe call it "10 THINGS TO DO WHEN YOUR CORREGIDOR TRIP IS CANCELLED." Curiously, new members are joining our Facebook page at an average rate of 10 a day. There are now 1,347 members.

Do you see all of those supposed plans listed above....THEY ARE GOING TO BE A REALITY. Once again, monies were transferred with anticipated excitement of going to visit my old friend only to be squashed 10 minutes before boarding.... technical difficulties! This explanation is really tired, old, annoying and now destructive. Corregidor is putting up a damn good fight yet again I sencerily hope she wins this latest battle and continues to shine. Disappointed...not defeated.

I sure will my friend. Things are not looking good for our favorite little island, I just read EXO’s latest. Pushing all of that aside I CAN’T WAIT TO BE THERE AGAIN.

WOW...again. One of my favorite WWII sayings, K I S S. Things just got way too complicated and fussy and now it’s in a heck of a mess. December 6 is my Corregidor run, I sincerely hope I can visit my old friend again.

On reading Karl Welteke’s findings about Corregidor Inn, they should have left alone, let it be a little cranky and unpolished THAT is how Corregidor IS. Upgrade the bathrooms, provide ice cold beer and fresh sandwiches is all it needed. I am certainly not a know it all but the Corregidor Inn refurbishment program was the last straw.

Thank you EXO, I always enjoy your writings. “Naturally when there is no profit their motivation evaporates“ holy COW....this is exactly when the motivation needs to be turned on and jacked up to find out why the profits have diminished....what went wrong? I know this is not you EXO, it is the controllers of the island. If you do not listen to the consumers of your product, the ideas, the suggestions, you will fail...this is happening now. Tourism has many levels with countless things to do when we are not working. History is our tourism. The Royal Naval Dockyard here in Bermuda is a first class destiination and a world renowned place to visit. There is no self entitlement here in dockyard It has been achieved by every single business putting their best efforts into their product. Corregidor needs to be taken over with passion for the island, by someone or some group that actually cares about Corregidor and her fallen men. Once this has been achieved success will follow. I hope this person shows up soon!
