Update:
Photobucket has begun the process of watermarking images. Many photos from my two accounts are showing this now.
Please keep in mind that these accounts were PREVIOUSLY PAID FOR by myself, and have six weeks remaining in the current contract period.
I have complained to PB.

AS IF it is not already difficult enough to create a website, and to keep up with the ever-changing technologies, and to navigate the issues of SSL, things are now impossible for amateurs to maintain websites without major expense. Now PHOTOBUCKET has stabbed hobbyists in the back.
Photobucket have started charging users to third party host images on forums. Those with pre-paid accounts are now being prevented from placing images on a forum without their obscene self-advertisements being displayed.
PHOTOBUCKET have become the lowest of the low. (These days, what with banks, used car dealers, lawyers, politicians and the mainstream Imperial Media, there's a lot of competition to be the most crooked bastard at the deep end of the cesspool. ) It is impermissible that PHOTOBUCKET writes into their contracts that they can breach their contract (such as to redefine their services on pre-paid accounts) as and when they feel like it. That is against public policy.
This undermines years of hard work that every one of us has put in to our on-line community.
History buffs, car enthusiasts, scale modellers, musicians, artists, flower arrangers, DIY teachers - anyone with a hobby, anyone with a desire to educate and illuminate others will NOT be able to post images on your favourite forums without paying $399.
THIS FORUM ADVISES THOSE OF ITS MEMBERS WHO CAN, TO DITCH THOSE PHOTOBUCKET RATBAG BASTARDS.
I am investigating alternatives, though the bigger problem is to engineer the preferred solution without a full reinvestment in new web authoring programs. We have already lost all Adobe Flash features, and our FlippingPage features. I need to find a host that confers a SSL Certification, and allows third-party hosting to a forum. Has anyone out there had any experience with Cloudflare, Bluehost or Gator?
The website is presently hosted at GoDaddy, but they have re-engineered things in such a way that their "add-on" services have become necessary rather than optional.

I moved my sites from GoDaddy to BlueHost several years ago. I shopped around quite a bit before jumping and I've been quite happy with BlueHost. Not a single "issue" and they have always been quite helpful. BlueHost has grown considerably since I started with them, but success doesn't seem to have gone to their heads/marketing the way that GoDaddy did. They have quite a menu of software. I run WordPress, and while it has a limited forum ability, it is primarily a blog. Besides WordPress, they also offer quite a number of other software add-ins such as forums. If there's a specific forum software you want, I'd check with them to be sure they offer it. It looks like most of their hosting packages include an SSL cert, but check to be sure as they have quite a number of packages.

Thanks John, I was intending to contact you about this, so your recommendation is timely. I have had a look at their site, contacted their tech support about whether they can deal with Expression Web (they say they can) and pricing seems reasonable. They are a little expensive to transfer my existing sites, but I suppose $150US is worthwhile if it stops me putting my fist through another monitor screen. Still thinking.

Photobucket image descriptions do not show anymore. A few weeks ago, I asked about the problem. Finally, on the 24th of April I got an answer. See the screen shot below! Under their new program, one can add descriptions but they don’t show when viewing the album or images. They apparently still show in my older albums when I view them in the “Slideshow” mode, BUT NOT IN NEWER ALBUMS. Here is the screen shot: U580. Photobucket image descriptions do not show anymore. Email from Photobucket.

A preliminary search of several of my threads shows that the images are fully intact, and that the watermarks are now gone. Did someone threaten legal action? Or was the current management team replaced? Hard to believe this scambag company reversed itself voluntarily. I still do not trust them. Their word is no good.

The Photobucket scambags have put the water marks back on.
