I might do so in the summer, with some mountaineer friends. Plan is to climb Tarak Ridge staying there overnight, descend the following morning to rent a banca to Corregidor where we'll stay for another overnight. Ambitious, yes? ;D
Off topic... it's at Tarak Ridge where Karl (?) and others found that P-40 and Japanese fighter wreckage, right? If so, that would be something I want to see if and when I find myself trekking to Tarak Ridge.

I noticed the short line of rocks that extends from the shore just on the other side of Engineer Dock in Fots' photo. They are in pics of mine from the 80s, too. I wonder if they could be what's left of a breakwater that was blown away or removed farther out from the beach...

Hey Chad...Methinks you might be on to something. That breakwater just couldn't totally disappear. There has to be some sign of it's existence. I still say fots will have to probe the depths of the off shore waters north of Bottom Side.

Yep, and I'll bet there's still a loose bottle of President Quezon's favorite whiskey rolling around somewhere inside the bottom of the Cassiana. I'm sure if Fots fished it up and sold it to the right collector he could retire, buy the Corregidor Inn, move in, and provide year round guest rooms for me and my mrs. and you and yours ;D ;D

Chad, you keep posting amazing and thought provoking shots from the past.
I see a road half way up the hill, behind the Refrigeration building, that I must find and explore.
I have walked the road around the hill, the North Shore Road to Battery James many times, but not the one going left on the photo..........
Have been to the blown up, hidden, and mostly collapsed Fresh Water Tank last year, also above the Refrigeration building with Fots, below this road, but there is a steep hill behind the tank.
There is quite road network up on that hill, and winding to the west.
10 minutes from the Hotel.............

Hi chadhill, In Replies #9 and #22, you were asking about a rock breakwater line near the Engineer Dock. Nothing seems to exist today but have a look at this 1945 photo. I wouldn’t really call this round thing a breakwater but it appears to be made of rock. You can also see the wooden dolphins near the dock. The 1936 map labels them as “6 dolphins, 7 piles each”. 1945 photo Phantom, the "road to the left" is still there. It passes beside the Japanese AA gun that remains up there.
