Hi Karl,
That is the only chunk of loose concrete that I remember seeing in that tunnel. Everett has a good idea as to what it was part of.

Hi fireball,
Those buildings are interesting. If I get back to Mariveles then a visit there is definitely on the list. Asking for permission to wander around is certainly understandable and it is great that they do not mind discrete visitors. Let’s hope any visitors are exempt from ‘observation’.

Hi fireball,
Are you from Mariveles?Been there at the old Quarantine Station i remember to see the seal of Commonwealth aside the Spanish emblem that is shown in your photo..The first time i visited Mariveles in the late 70's was when i was invited by my girlfriend (now my wife) for a visit.Going inside the (Quarantine) mental hospital is not a problem then.If i have much info like what i have read in the forum i guess many sites was existing then..i still remember that there was a Japanese gun still complete with wheels in a an old barn few meters into the road to Cabcaben..Now i live there permanently..so many changes happens after near 30 years..I even don't know what happened to the Japanese gun..

Hey, Fortune...Interesting info about that Japanese gun. The road you mentioned, is that the Highway or is it the one to Cabcaben town? Do you know where's that barn?

2012 UpdatePart #1 of this Trip Report is about the Mariveles Navy Tunnels. Earlier this year a group of people went into Tunnel #1 and noticed that there has been a significant cave-in along the main shaft. I updated Karl's sketch to reflect this change.
