I have a strange question pardon me.
I am just wondering about the contents of the USA Aid boxes any one who worked for the US,Armed forces who can answer this?
I am curious what food items are there and if its "branded" like it has the corporate labels from the manufacturers or just a plain generic tag that says US Aid Peanut butter?

Thank you Okla, your thoughts are well appreciated. I heard that the USMC are already in Leyte helping to secure the area. We are fortunate Manila was spared it would have surely destroyed our house if it hit the metro.

There are reports of up to 10,000 people dead and mobs swarming Army trucks just to get supplies a local mall was also looted. There are some stories circulating on social media sites as well but we have no way to confirm those "rumors" of government cover up and reports of large mobs terrorizing the survivors etc, and other forms of abuse.
As usual during natural calamities some people are taking advantage of the situation to draw some attention to them selves and create unnecessary fear and panic and promote hatred.
There where also some Rumors about a local Christian sect refusing to let some survivors take shelter in their church and its causing a mile long thread in Facebook right now. Like I said this are just rumors and yet people have jump in and started calling names etc,

It astounds me that Hollywood has never bothered to make a major production film about Corregidor. Hell, the miniseries "The Pacific" omitted Corregidor completely. Not only that I think corregidor is strategically important during the 1942 campaign, I also think the 1945 retaking aside from being part of the over all strategy is somewhat dramatic as dramatic as the 1942 Bataan death march/delaying campaign. I would love to watch a motion picture tribute to corregidor a video documentary will also be great I dig those things. I think a movie about the battle of Manila including the corregidor campaign would be great especially if done very well hollywood style. Just seeing pre war Manila City hall, The STO. Tomas camp and corregidor re created in CG would be a treat.

Welcome to our forum, I am glad you found this site to be helpful as I learned a lot of stuff here. Corregidor is really a fascinating island when I went there in 2011 I thought it was just an ordinary War Memorial where the place has been sterilized and overly develop but it wasn't like that until today people can still recover shells un-exploded mines etc. Corregidor does still have plenty of secrets.
Its just fascinates me that there is this "mysterious island" just 2hours away from where I live, who would have thought of that we use to think that an island like is always like a thousand miles from our backyard.

I have a piece of concrete from the mile long barracks it has rust stains in it, I chose the one with the rust stains to signify time and the destruction.

Thanks Okla for passing on the information . FOTS and I had a great chat on the way to the Rock , it was unfortunate that I couldn't join John on a bit of research on the rock . And hey we need you Joe to do a recky on the Rock . So start buying a few of those winning lotto tickets . I was also keeping an eye out at the Manila ferry terminal for Darthtrack . I remember Darth saying he might be going over to the Rock with his Mother and Auntie . Hi westernaus. Its nice to know you finally made it to the Rock. Unfortunately for me due to economic constraints we where not able to push thru with our plan to take my Mother and Aunt for a day tour. Hopefully next year we can save up and even go for the overnight stay. cheers Jamie.
