Thank you for the pictures. I realize now that I must get back there and tour the shrine again. They must have added a bunch to the exhibit for I do not remember seeing much of what you have posted.

Thanks for the presentation. I can't wait to see the pictures of the basement.
The structure is now obviously occupied, do you know by whom? Corregidor workers, hopefully?

In my amazement I forgot to ask, are there any surviving pictures that show us what the battery looked like in the day?

You are amazing! Where do you come up with this stuff? I had no idea there was a saluting battery but upon thinking about it for a few minutes, it certainly makes sense that there would be a saluting gun during that era. And why not a whole battery to support it. It surely would fit in with the motif of the whole island being riddled with batteries everywhere.
Again, you have outdone yourself.

Very nice presentation. I visited there in 2011, and it was worth the visit. For me, two things really stuck out for me.
1) In the re-enactment of his execution in the park nearby (statues twice normal size, very impressive) I just could not get over the fact that they tied his arms behind him, turned him around and then the firing squad SHOT HIM IN THE BACK! I just could not get over that. I kept thinking about it,,,, for days. It seemed so cowardly in some way. There was a depiction of this in mural size on a wall in the shrine. Did you happen to see it? Is it just me or did that fact strike anyone else as,,,,, I am struggling for a word here,,,, outrageous?
2) Dr. Rizal was very much a pacifist. He did not want the revolution to be violent and fought very hard to keep it peaceful yet it was his martyrdom that sparked that violent revolution.

Amen to the vicarious living.
Those were great pictures, I enjoyed them very much. It appeared you visited many of the same spots that I had. What do you think is your favorite?

Hi Tony
The pictures you posted have somehow disappeared from your thread. Can you please re-post them? I would love to see them all.

I tried that link to the Macarthurmemorial.org but it says that that page does not exist anymore.
But the home page of that site has a picture of Mac as the team manager of the football team. Does anyone recognize the player sitting next to him on his left? It is none other than Paul D Bunker.
