Mosaic maps of WWII Theatre of War In about the center of the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial are two large hemicycles. Inside the hemicycles are twenty-five mosaic maps which recall the achievements of the American Armed Forces in the Pacific, China, India and Burma. One of the officials of the cemetery has those 25 maps posted at a large format in Facebook. This is a URL to one of his albums with those 25 maps. I hope you will be able to open it and I hope that you don’t have to be a member of Facebook to do it: www.facebook.com/hubert.caloud/media_set?set=a.1156076201072145.1073742073.100000093283994&type=3Here is one sample map: W986. A mosaic map in a large size about the Defense of Luzon, it is located in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial. W986. IMG thump of the same image. Both items are linked to the same large image of mosaic map about the Defense of Luzon. I don’t know which one will open easy for you. This is the description of the official’s album with the mosaic maps of WWII Theatre of War: Maps at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial They are pretty high resolution if you want to down load them. They are all 10 foot high in different widths some as inserts displayed in the memorials 4 map rooms. All types of data provided by the US service chiefs to the ABMC historical section in the 1950's. Strategic, Operational and Tactical levels of war within the pacific theatre, different aspects of the theatre i.e. logistics, submarine operations, lend-lease, fast carrier-warfare, aerial bombing of the Japanese home islands, specific campaigns and sea battles even one map of European Theater operations. They were drawn in a private studio in Montery CA and casted in South San Francisco. Brought out by ship in sections during the 1950's they were unloaded in Manila Harbor put on barges to be moved up the Pasig River and offloaded at Guadalupe Quay then trucked up into Fort McKinley. MANILA AMERICAN CEMETERY VISIT 2016 Both Manila Heroes Cemeteries On the 18th of May 2016 the family visited the Manila American Cemetery and the Philippine Heroes Cemetery to appreciate these two places of remembrance to the sacrifice of so many in the Defense of Liberty. We took 41 pictures and they are uploaded here: s74.photobucket.com/user/PI-Sailor/library/Family/Family%20in%20PI%20Sub%20Album%201/2015-2016%20Family%20albums/Manila%20Heroes%20Cemeteries?sort=9&page=1 I present 9 sample images here but they are much smaller: W987 (W2) Manilyn (Karla), Rowena and Karl Welteke and relatives of my wife, Ariel, Jay-Ann and her sister Melody are visiting the Manila American Cemetery. There are 25 of these mosaic maps about the battles in the Pacific and South Asia. W988 (W3) Manilyn (Karla), Rowena and Karl Welteke and relatives of my wife, Ariel, Jay-Ann and her sister Melody are visiting the Manila American Cemetery. These are the Tablets of the Missing containing 36,285 names. W989 (W5) the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in the Philippines occupies 152 acres. The American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC), an agency of the U.S. federal government, manages America's overseas cemeteries and they are doing a good job. W990 (W8) in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, these are the Tablets of the Missing containing 36,285 names. Rosettes mark the names of those since recovered and identified. This year is the first time I noticed W991 (W9) in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC), an agency of the U.S. federal government, manages America's overseas cemeteries, Right now they are preparing for Memorial Day. W992 (W14) my daughter is showing off my Tamaraw Icon, the shoulder sleeve insignia of the US Philippine Division who were mostly Filipinos known as the Philippine Scouts. I got this icon from Victor Verano, thank you Vic. We were standing in front of a tablet for the Philippine Scouts. W993 (W15) Hubert Caloud has his office in the visitor building, I did not want to disturb him but he saw us and immediately organized this picture and posted it on his Facebook page. I believe he is the 2nd person in the chain of Command at the Cemetery. W994 (W17) Hubert Caloud posted the last picture on Facebook in no time and it generated this conservation which I captured in 6 separate images. Second of six images. These 6 images are screenshots of our Facebook conversation about our family visit to the Manila Heroes Cemeteries. My daughter Karla (real name Manilyn) was impressed and wrote a little essay. W995 (W18). Hubert Caloud posted his picture on Facebook in no time and it generated this conservation which I captured in 6 separate images. Third of six images. These 6 images are screenshots of our Facebook conversation about our family visit to the Manila Heroes Cemeteries. My daughter Karla (real name Manilyn) was impressed and wrote a little essay. My daughter’s essay is on the last two images and they are in the above album. And so are the first two images of this set 6 images about the conversation about our family visit.
